Short break with friends
The property was in an excellent position, well equipped and very clean. Communication with the owner was excellent when we did encounter a problem with the shower which was quickly solved. The outside patio area could do with a little maintenance to improve the overall experience as we spent a lot of time sitting and eating outside in beautiful weather and surroundings. We felt that the provision for recycling also needed improving but otherwise the whole experience was excellent

Hi Sandra Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I’m not sure why but the recycling bin was still outside the property which should have been bought round which was an over sight on my part. Thank you for your comments re the sitting area, I think the weather has been so awful this year that I haven’t thought about planting up the pots but will now. Maybe it will encourage some more decent weather . All the best to you and your friends and I hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back .

60th Birthday get together
Lovely cottage. The wood burning stove was much appreciated by all including our black Labrador! The central heating was very efficient once we’d found the boiler controls (in one of the twin rooms) Host checked in to make sure we had everything we needed but wasn’t at all intrusive. Beds very comfortable ! Can recommend the Scotsman’s Pack inn who (with some advance notice) catered for 42 of us for the Birthday meal !

Wonderful character house in great location
Just what the doctor ordered. A beautiful and very well appointed house in a fantastic location in the village. Everything we needed and much more besides. Comfortable beds and plenty of bathrooms with a really lovely and comfortable sitting room upstairs. Great venue for larger groups - we were 4 friends who all like our own space and facilities and this house delivered. Thank you to the host who also allowed an earlier check in for our international travellers. Much appreciated.

With friends to celebrate a 60th birthday
A wonderful place to spend time with good friends. Plenty of space, comfortable and a great dining space. Everytbing you need for a comfortable stay. Plenty of places to eat and drink in the village too. Everything clean and warm with great showers too. Well worth staying here.

Lovely houses
The house is very spacious and well equipped. We had dogs with us and the garden was secure and a great size for them to run around. The house is on a main road so the front bedrooms can be a little noisy, however we were all so tired from the excellent walking it didn’t really matter!

Superb property in the bustling picturesque village of Hathersage! Great location for visiting and walking around Hathersage, Hope Valley, Bakewell and Castleton. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here!

Wonderful for large family with small children
Everything was perfect. The back garden was great for the kids (7 & 10) to run around, plus nice patio set for the grown-ups to relax and watch. There was plenty of room for us all. The living room had lots of chairs,etc. We had a great visit to Hathersage.

Visiting family and exploring the Peaks
This spacious home was perfect for our family gatherings. Even though only 5 to 7 people stayed here on different nights, the home was perfect for all our relatives from Sheffield and Huddersfield. Nine adults and two toddlers were able to sit around the main dining room table. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and various kitchen gadgets. There are also manuals available for everything in the kitchen. A highchair and toys made it easier for the little ones. They also enjoyed playing in the large back garden. A delicious lemon bread and a loaf of freshly baked bread in the kitchen made our arrival even more enjoyable. Pip, the owner, was very responsive to any questions. Hathersage is a lovely town with friendly people. The next time we come to the area, we would choose to stay here again!

Summer in Topcroft
The house and garden are really great - ideal for small children. Lots of toys and games provided in the house. Hathersage is an idyllic village - especially outdoor swimming pool, but lots of places to eat and fine short walks. Only drawback is supermarket shopping is limited - fantastic fruit and veg and butcher's shop however.

Cosy cottage for family break
We stayed at Topcroft Cottage for 3 nights as a family of 8 adults with 2 dogs. The cottage was wonderful and clean and was large enough that you didn’t feel like you were living on top of each other. The location is ideal to walk to all local pubs/restaurants and shops and the parking spaces were ideal too. The cottage itself was really clean and had all the amenities that you needed. The garden was huge too and it meant the dogs had plenty of space to run around. The lemon drizzle and fresh bread was such a welcoming touch too. Thank you for a wonderful stay

Perfect location for the centre of Hathersage. Close to all the amenities.

Lovely house, great area
Thanks so much to Pip for her excellent service, and what a lovely house! We had a fantastic pre-Christmas weekend. We know the area well, there are great walks, Chatsworth and its excellent farm shop and cafe 20 mins away, nice pubs, a lively little town, and swims at the lovely heated outdoor pool in Hathersage. All from a fab, warm and cosy house with parking for 2 cars. We will be back

Topcroft Holiday Cottage was perfect for our vacation in Hathersage in every way. The location is excellent & the cottage very comfortable & well equipped. I do not want to praise this to highly as i would love to keep it for myself. What a lovely place to stay it is well equipped ( except the small drippy teapot) and so close to many beautiful places. The children loved the garden. None of us wanted to leave this morning. We will be back.

Super property, lovely garden at the back. Traffic was a worry, crossing the road, and noisy lorries, but the lovely property made up for that. Loved the outdoor pool, and days out at Castleton and Chatsworth, and a lovely stepping stones walk. We all agreed we would go again.

Family weekend
Despite the wind and rain, we had a fantastic few days in Hathersage. The cottage was perfect for 2 families and the home made bread and cake were a lovely welcome. Wonderful large cottage
This is a wonderfully presented cottage in a great location with easy access to Hathersage's amenities. The bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds and the communal areas are large and flexible with a well equipped kitchen. For a large party (including a couple of dogs) this is the perfect cottage for the Eastern Peak District.

Lovely location for exploring
We all had a great time at Topcroft, which was very well located, and ideal for our party of 7/8 plus the dog. Hathersage itself is a lovely village/small town, with great places to eat, and good walks on the doorstep. Buy your provisions before you get there though, as shopping facilities are limited. Bring your own logs too, as these are not provided. The property is well equipped, but would benefit from some investment and TLC by the owners. A shower in the shared bathroom would make a huge difference. Overall, a great property, in a lovely location. Just a shame the maintenance hasn’t been kept up.

Great gals waking weekend !
Lovely comfy place .. I liked the fact it had a lovely sociable dining area and cosy lounge for some peace and quiet: it is also really handy when you go away with friends that there are twin beds .. there were 2 twin bedrooms which is a good idea . Hathersage has some wonderful places to eat and drink… all in the doorstep ! Walking fab too.. Stanage Edge is just beautiful and we had a wonderful sunny day luckily. Thanks to Pip for being so helpful and friendly.. we will be back !

Lovely, but in need of a little maintenance
It was a lovely cottage, and perfectly laid out for the 7 of us, and very convenient for shopping, eating, walking etc. We had a lovely welcome from Philippa with lovely bread and cake waiting for us. However, we had a few issues. Firstly, there were two taps that just came off in our hands and one radiator not working. Our friend purchased some tools and repaired these. There were 3 showers and a bidet advertised, but there were only 2 showers and no bidet. This was a problem for our party. The floors in the two double bedrooms seriously creaked, waking others up and disturbing those of us in the rooms. We could have benefited from some scales, a measuring jug, more mugs and some serving spoons, otherwise, the kitchen was well equipped.. The whole house and garden felt a little bit neglected, but none of these things spoilt our enjoyment.

Topcroft Cottage
Exceptionally clean and excellent location in a friendly village with excellent facilities. Pippa was pro-active, friendly and attentive but not intrusive. There was a little trouble with the electrics but nothing that was not resolved immediately. Would like there to have been a shower over the bath in the family bathroom. Pippa left us a large, homemade lemon cake and a fresh loaf from the bakery. Very welcoming and I'd go again without hesitation.

Spacious cottage in a good location.
The cottage was a good size for a family trip to celebrate a family birthday. It had most of the amenities that you would want and it was a pleasant surprise to have a homemade cake and bread on arrival. You could comfortably sleep 8 people and there is room for dogs. The location was good to other surrounding areas in the peaks, lots of areas to walk the dogs and there was lots of food/pub choices locally. The cottage is on a busy main road above a chemist which we were not expecting but the road noise didn’t impact our stay. It wasn’t clear to us in the description that the lounge was located upstairs among the bedrooms and although we expected stair use for bedroom access the continued up and down for day to day living wasn't ideal for our 2 year old, an elder member of our party or for the dogs. The garden was a good size as expected but did need a tidy up and would have expected this for the cost of the cottage. The outside bins were already full when we arrived which wasn’t ideal and some cleaning equipment left out in a bedroom. On the whole we had a nice trip and glad we visited Hathersage.

A brilliant stay in the wonderful village of Hathersage. The cottage had everything we needed as two families of all age ages, and more. Equipped with everything internally and a great garden for the kids to run around, would definitely recommend.

Fantastic short break with friends
The property was lovely, well kept and clean. It was set in a lovely little village, and was near to Chatsworth House, Bakewell ,Eyam, and The Heights of Abraham, which are the places that we visited, and really enjoyed. A loaf of home made bread and home made lemon cake awaited us, with some milk in the fridge, which was a lovely touch. The garden was well kept, and we enjoyed sitting out there in the evening. We had a really nice Indian takeaway too, from the local Indian restaurant. Bedrooms were all large and very comfortable.

fabulous spacious cottage in the centre of Hathersage
The cottage was really spacious and truly an 8 person property. It is beautifully furnished and has been fitted out to a very high standard - we had a great time staying there for 5 nights and PIP was very responsive. Our only slight niggle - which did not affect me as I was sleeping at the back - our friends sleeping in the front bedrooms did report some road noise. That said I would have no hesitation booking TopCroft again
