There is a short walk to the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon which is ideal for small kids/families, along side the open ocean of Waikiki with its famous surf waves. In fact you can check the surf at "Kaisers", "Rock Piles" and "Bowls" from the balcony, with all breaks being less than 5 mins walk from your doorstep. If you need resort time, take a drink at the "Prince" pool terrace next door and enjoy their infinity pool. For a special kids day, buy a resort pass at the adjacent Hilton hotel, and enjoy their pools with water slides, lazy rivers with cocktails and poolside eating for adults.  
  
Then there's the shopping, a 10min walk away is the famous Ala Moana Mall, one of the largest open air malls in the world, it caters to all tastes from Asian street food, to luxury shopping, you can literally spend a day looking around its several levels. Directly in font of your balcony is the Ala Wai Marina with its many daily boating excursions, adventurous activities and sightseeing trips.  
  
Slightly further a field there is Fort Derussy Park, and Ala Moana Beach park providing large less crowded beaches than central Waikiki, but with the same safety and conveniences surrounding you.  
  
For eating their is an endless supply of fine eating establishments within walking distance, the "Charthouse " at the base of the building is a local favorite, and has great live music for dinnertime.
