QUIET building with on-site laundry and common area with water-view has loungers and tables, & access to water for surfing. Comfortable bed! keyless entry plus 2 fobs for garage/building access. Covered parking available - owner provided company info. Beach chairs, towels, small cooler included. Strong living room A/C. Owner responds quickly to questions.Things lacking based on description compared to when we booked: Only ocean view from common hallway leading to unit door or common grass area. Orange-stained bathroom grout corners, shower handles had permanent marker lines explaining where to stop turning them (odd), cabinet above microwave missing door (luxurious title of unit). "Lanai and 2 chairs" is unusable narrow ledge, no chairs could fit on it even if they were supplied. Bedroom A/C extremely loud and insufficient - runs 24/7 and struggles to cool room to my desired temp at night. No fans to circulate air from living room which would help. Warnings not to use microwave w other appliances or potential breaker trips (breaker on 5th floor- owner offers assistance w this if occurs). Bottom Line: Perfect if you don't want ocean view from inside unit, don't want your own lanai, and don't need cold bedroom at night. ##### Amy W. Feb 16, 2014 #### Very clean, cozy, elegant, convenient My family really enjoyed staying at this condo. My father loves the private beach of the building where we could see wonderful sunset everyday. Donna, the owner, is a such a wonderful and caring host. I am thankful for her heart-warming welcome gift and thank you card with her gorgeous hand writing. My parents also like a big bedroom and furniture&overall decoration of the house. Definitely we want to come back here every year for our family vacation. ##### Connie K. She was responsive, organized and very down to earth. Great customer service. The condo was extremely clean and beautifully decorated. It was even better in person than in the photos! The unit and building were safe, close to a yoga studio, the beach and shopping in town. Perfect for my holiday getaway to visit family. I would definitely return to this property and recommend it to others. As the saying goes, "Location, location, location' and this one can't be beat. It was a 5-minute walk to our favorite beach to either start or end the day and it was always beautiful. The condo itself is very comfortable with nice amenities - at the top of the list is the comfy bed and a/c. We appreciated, too, having the well-appointed kitchen (even though we ended up not cooking). Note there is construction next door but it did not affect us at all. Apr 8, 2015 #### Great Unit in Perfect Location This is a great condo, with beautiful, solid, modern fittings and construction. All was as advertised, in fact in reality it was slightly bigger than we thought from the pictures. Being on the fourth floor, cool breezes refresh the apartment, and from the balcony you can see a bit of the ocean to the left and the fountain in Kapiolani park to the right. The location is just about perfect: conveniently close to shops and restaurants and Waikiki, but very quiet and peaceful day and night. Diamond head looms large behind the building, and there is an oceanfront patio to watch the sunset from. The owner is attentive and available but completely un-intrusive if that is what you prefer. Apr 29, 2014 #### Peaceful, but close to Waikiki First up, this is not a view condo, in fact, the neighboring buildings are very close. That's the only downside of this lovely vacation home. Kapiolani Park is right across the street, the neighborhood is safe and quiet. We parked on the street every day for five days, we spent less than $5.00 on meters. It's beautifully decorated and has everything you could need on vacation. The building has a lovely little lawn fronting the ocean where you can lay out and read and watch the sea. The bustle of Waikiki is a five minute walk. Donna, the owner, is very responsive, a nice person, a gave us a lovely welcome basket. I was a little disappointed that there wasnā€™t a view, but if Iā€™d looked closer at the photos Iā€™d have known. But there are two great sitting areas in the front of the building with the ocean (and gorgeous sunsets) right there The owner was very responsive. The entry key was very easy to access. I liked the coded condo door. And I loved the location. The park across the street is great, beach easy to walk to - practically next door. And itā€™s quiet and pleasant to be out of the hubbub of Waikiki, although you can be in it - Short walk. We didnā€™t have trouble with parking - the meters are very inexpensive and if you park at the top of the park there are some free spaces. ##### Patrice P. The bath tub should have a mat to prevent slipping. The kitchen cabinets are old and broken. They do not close properly. They slide open are a source of injury. The living room rug is also slippery and a source for potential injury. This property should indicate that it is not safe for seniors. ##### Eliot B. May 21, 2018 #### Perfect My wife and I had to travel to Hawaii on short notice, and since we had stayed at DHBH before, this was our first choice. We selected unit 402 because of the kitchen, and we weren't disappointed. This is a very nice little condo. In addition to the well-equipped kitchen, the condo has a luxury shower in the nicely decorated bathroom. We enjoyed the owner's timely communication is the leasing process and the welcome. The only hiccup was arranging parking through the Diamond Head Beach Hotel folks. If you want to park in the basement garage (and we did), we had to arrange parking separately. Mark Howard (the manager) stepped in personally to provide us with a garage opener about 40 minutes after our arrival---and we had already unpacked our car. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and have discussed buying a unit in this building. The location is perfectly placed for our needs. Strongly recommended. ##### James S. Donna did a great job making us feel welcome with a handwritten card, flowers and pineapple. The condo is a good size for 2 people. The double sized bed is comfortable. The bathroom is clean and the shower was very nice. The kitchen had all the utensils I needed to cook breakfasts and a few dinners. There is plenty of space to spread out and relax in the living room/dining room area. In the front of the building is a great little garden with lounge chairs overlooking the ocean. The sun in the afternoon is perfect and the sunsets are amazing!!! Itā€™s a great spot to have an adult beverage and let the day pass by. We spent many hours out there. The walk into Waikiki is very enjoyable and only takes 10-15 minutes depending on how fast you want to get there. The only reason this place gets 4 stars is that the lanai is tiny (barely room for 2 chairs) and the view is into an adjacent building. Overall, Iā€™d recommend the condo as a great, affordable spot for a Hawaiian getaway. ##### Philip W. It was great to live as a local. From the moment we arrived we realized how convenient the place would be. Getting into the apt. was easy. The apartment had all the amenities we needed including nice beach towels and full kitchen. It was very clean and well kept. The bathroom was great with lots of towel racks. Our bedroom was very spacious and closet and drawer space was abundant. Our family of four was very comfortable. We spent our evenings on the patio downstairs to watch the sunset and have happy hour (no view from the room). It was a great way to unwind. Parking for the most part was pretty easy and affordable. Just on day on the weekend we had trouble finding parking because the park was full but we eventually found something. Otherwise the rest of the time we parked right across the street with a short walk pass a lovely fountain. Just bring quarters with you so you have them on hand. One problem we had (which had more to do with the building and not the owner's apt.) was that 3 of the 4 washing machines were out of order but on the plus side, when they were working, they took credit cards. This was a great location since we were going to both Waikiki and Diamond Head Beach. Thank you Donna for sharing the local life with us. ##### Christina G. If location matters to you, this condo can't be beat. It's situated at the far end of Waikiki so it's quiet and serene. Lush park is across the street and the ocean is steps away. We spent many evenings sitting out in the private patio area watching the sunset and enjoying the sounds of waves crashing on the rocks. The unit has been beautifully refurbished; it's exactly as the pictures indicate...only better! Comfy bed, two TV's (small in the bedroom but come on...who goes to Hawaii to watch TV?) Wonderful kitchen with everything we needed to create delicious meals. Bathroom is spotless and lovely; Donna includes spa-quality amenities, fluffy towels and paper goods to get your visit started. The unit doesn't have a particularly good view but again, that wasn't a problem for us. Bustling Waikiki is a 15 minute walk away; several good, family swim beaches with 5 minutes. We didn't feel the need to rent a car; we could walk everywhere (even to Diamond-head State Park) There's a small convenience store in the nearby O'tani Hotel for sodas,snacks and sundries. Be sure to stop in at the Sunset Lounge (same hotel) for a cold drink and some nice Hawaiian music overlooking the beach. There are many great places to grab a bite, shop or people-watch, all within an easy walk of the condo. Donna was super responsive and very helpful - while never being intrusive. The condo felt very safe and secure and the free WiFi worked seamlessly. We enjoyed the delicious welcome basket she prepared for us and made good use of the many O'ahu guides, maps and menus she had available. Donna has gone out of her way to create a lovely Aloha vacation get-away for her guests.
