The Pacific Monarch building is centrally located in Waikiki, with a great variety of entertainment and dining options nearly at its doorsteps. Just a few blocks away from the building is a large concentration of shopping centers, such as Pualeilani Atrium and the International Marketplace. Lastly, this building has easy access to public transportation such as the many nearby bus stops & Biki rental bike stands. The quality of workmanship in this newly renovated unit is close to perfection. Just some of the upgrades include: custom travertine floors, floor-to-ceiling travertine tiled bathroom, custom quartz countertops, and full quartz backsplash in the kitchen. As well as custom-built interior mahogany doors with frosted glass, and new exterior windows and sliding doors (including tinted bedroom glass). Finally, this one-bedroom unit has a full kitchen, complete with a dishwasher, and both a King size bed and a pull-out Queen Sofa for optimum rest after a long day of exploration. The bed was on the firm side but tolerable. Water pressure was very good. As mentioned in many reviews the a/c is noisy and should be replaced, but it kept the room comfortably cool at night. During the day there are strong breezes which were nice through the many open windows. The owner failed to let the front desk know we were coming and his emails are “no-reply”, so we were delayed at check in, but we would stay here again. ##### Kurt S. It was a minimalist’s dream. Every item was tucked away in a cabinet, drawer or cupboard which was my very favorite thing!! The lanai offered a beautiful view of the ocean. And although I sat on the lanai by myself there’s plenty of room out there for at least 4 people. The a/c was very cold (if you like it cold). The kitchen seemed fully equipped though we didn’t cook during our short stay. If you want to be in the heart of Waikīkī this is the place for you. There’s a coffee hut right downstairs which was very convenient. The garage (independent of the condo) was a tight squeeze, so be careful and drive slowly when parking and exiting if you use it. ##### June P. What's good: Since it is on the 29th floor, the partial view of the ocean and the view towards the east from the patio was the highlight of the place. The patio really makes the difference, since the unit is very compact. The glass wall that separates the patio consists of glass panels, two of which slide together with the third, to enable indoor/outdoor living. Being a corner unit, it is very light. The finishes and the cabinets are high end, and there is plenty of storage. The tub/shower has great pressure and is great, except that the handheld part didn't work. The location is great, 2 blocks from the beach, and is on a busy street with bus stops, lots of restaurants, shopping, and a grocery store within 3 blocks. What's not as good:The air conditioner! It is very old, and very very noisy. A problem day and night. The bed is very firm, I liked it, my wife didn't. All in all, a very nice unit in an older hotel. Our stay was severely impacted by the extremely noisy and ineffective air conditioning unit, creating an intolerable living environment.Noise Violation: The air conditioning unit produced constant and disruptive noise levels consistently exceeding 75 decibels, far exceeding the permitted limit for residential units. We verified this using a noise level app.Inadequate Cooling: Despite the excessive noise, the unit was ineffective at cooling the apartment. Daytime temperatures soared due to the large windows, and even at night, temperatures remained uncomfortably high.Unresponsive Host:On the third day of our stay, we reported the AC issue to the host. They stated that they were unable to fix it.On the fifth day, we researched local building codes and measured the excessive noise levels. We then contacted the host again with this information, but received no further response until after our departure.This lack of communication and the significant impact of these issues on our stay were deeply disappointing. So turn around time is not great. we had to resort to sleeping on the balcony. Ugly : During checkout day , I got locked out and my key pad was not working. i called the number and left numerous msgs and urgent msgs and no one returned my calls or msg. I had to wait for cleaners to come in and let me in. Number listed on portal or their office is not monitored. No support from listing agent. People in the building were friendly. Perfect location. Kitchen was well stocked. Balcony was a great hangout spot. Bed was ridiculously comfortable and the shower had great water pressure. One and only hiccup was the door code didn't work, but left message and Lei got back to us with a solution very quickly. Would definitely stay here again. ##### Brenda H.
