I booked this accommodation for my visiting niece, her husband and their 6 year old son, and it did not disappoint anyone, one smidge. Within minutes of their (easily) finding the place and looking around I was texted "Ah my gosh, it's stunning!", "I'm obsessed! You have to come see it!". They enjoyed their stay immensely and found everything they needed for their time spent there or trips to the beach. I loved meeting Dale. Her talents are on full display both in house and garden, her having renovated and decorated the farmhouse - it is so comfortable and welcoming. However, as with many old farmhouses, the different levels of floor did make it a little difficult to get around as a disabled person. Just go slowly, and hold onto the nearest wall. Otherwise, a comfortable stay in a serene location. Close enough to Honokaa to grab a morning malasada (or three) at Tex's Drive-In, or head over to Waimea or Hilo for shopping. ##### Matt H. It is simply perfection in every way. From the absolutely gorgeous gardens surrounding the house to the incredibly charming vintage decor inside, this rental was truly wonderful. We so enjoyed strolling through the gardens, showering in the outdoor shower, eating meals on the deck, playing games in the cozy living area in the evenings, and falling asleep to the songs of the frogs. My family of 4 from San Diego (daughters ages 19, 16) thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Vintage Farmhouse. For three nights we cooked both breakfast and dinner and played card games. In the morning we walked the grounds and took morning walks up to the state park before our daily outings to waterfalls and volcano. Dale has thought of every detail. There is some much to see on the grounds with the plants and animals. We loved the outdoor shower and barbecuing on the charcoal grill. Amazing unique experience to get away and unplug. We loved it. Our girls left behind their swimsuits and Dale mailed them home and were here when we arrived home. I highly recommend booking this place. Mahalo for sharing your home! ##### Stephanie C. The house and botanical gardens were outstanding, with every detail throughout a reminder that we were there to relax, unwind, and reconnect with nature and each other. It’s location near Kalopa State Park and Forest Preserve made us feel as if it we were stepping back in time and experiencing Hawaii before tourism was an industry. Communication with the owner was easy, and she was very attentive. Dale gave us a tour of the gardens, which my husband and I appreciated very much. The home is very well equipped. It had everything that we could have needed. Fresh flowers were throughout the home when we arrived. The location is rural and quiet. The many beautiful plants on the property create a secluded oasis. Our college age son stayed in the birdhouse, and he really enjoyed that space as well. We felt this was a perfect place for us to stay for exploring the northern and eastern parts of the island. It also wasn't too far of a drive to get to sand beaches like Hapuna and Spencer's beach. This is a very special place. We enjoyed hiking in Kalopa Forest and exploring Honokaa area. The house is really lovely and lovingly furnished and cared for. We cooked dinner in the well equipped kitchen both nights. Glad that we had a tour of Dale's wonderful and magical garden! ##### John M. The grounds are beautiful it was really fun to walk around the garden, the outdoor showers are amazing, the beds were very comfortable we were a group of four so we also used the birdhouse bedroom. We could see goats from our bed. everything you could need was provided including a very sweet welcome package, we cooked breakfast and dinner there because we didn’t want to leave. The town is great, if you were there on a Sunday there was a great farmers market with live music about five minutes away, it feels very local and welcoming. I would definitely suggest this place especially if you love nature and are willing to go a little bit off the beaten path. We found cane toads and other little frogs in the garden, my five year old and my 82-year-old were both so happy here. ##### Gioia F. This place is so unique and is a real treat for those who are looking for a retreatesque experience. Secluded in the rainforest, falling asleep to the sounds of frogs and birds (and rain!) The colors, textiles and comforting items…and the outdoor bathrooms! Pretty magical. Our toddler especially loved it, exploring the flowers and eating fresh tangerines everyday! Our father in law loved sleeping in the birdhouse casita, too! The local towns, Honokaa and Waimea, are great with the latter one offering more options. Very rare find in a unique section of Hawaii Dale has thought of every little detail that made our 10 days magical. She has taken great pride in renovating this jewel in the jungle, down to the details that add comfort and ease.
