![In the 1920s, the remaining towering Giant Redwood trees were threatened by logging. Its champions brought H.D. Rockefeller to visit, who was impressed enough to help the state of California buy this particularly thick stand of the world's tallest trees from the logging company that owned it. 

These trees live so long because, for one thing, they can withstand millennia of fires. Their lower bark is thick and has little pitch, and the nearest needles can be hundreds of feet up in the air where fire can't reach them!

This view is from the inside of a tree hollowed out from centuries of natural processes, including fire and weather, but it's still alive at the top!

« Overall the home was in good condition. A few items were missing or didn’t work in the kitchen. ( can opener, cork screw, etc) WiFi and television were excellent. Communication needs work. ( I had to contact host prior to check in and there was no check out instructions) The location has beautiful areas to visit locally, however nearby parks are difficult to drive to due to bumpy mountain roads. »

« The Beach House was everything we’d hoped for, and much more. Beautifully remodeled, stunning ocean views (close enough to hear the surf and the seals), well equipped in every way imaginable, comfortable beds, books and games, spacious. We can’t say enough good about this place. It has 3 bedrooms plus a hide-a-bed, so it could sleep 8\. Because of car troubles, we missed our first 24 hours there, and Keith kindly offered to let us stay an extra day on the latter end of our time. Keith was great...
