Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of the glowing reviews. We booked specifically for the beautiful pool and outdoor area, but arrived to find the pool covered in sand and algae, clearly not cleaned or maintained beforehand.I contacted host Ana right away. She quickly sent a property manager, who scrubbed the walls with a plastic-bristle brush, leaving tons of broken bristles floating in the water. The host insisted it was safe, but with young kids (including a 6-year-old), we refused to swim until a professional cleaner vacuumed everything the next morning. We lost the first 18 hours of our short 42-hour stay—the exact feature we paid for. We politely asked for a small discount or later checkout to make up for the lost time and our unplanned entertainment expenses. Ana denied any compensation, claiming it was only weather-related and staining with “no algae.” Yet the pool visibly improved after both cleanings, and the pool deck had no sand or debris on arrival. The bristles (not weather) made it unusable; a pool vacuum robot would solve this. As former vacation rental hosts ourselves, we understand things go wrong. But the pool condition, lack of transparency, and refusal of any goodwill gesture left our family disappointed. The rest of the house was just so-so and the ring camera overlooking the pool is weird.(Note to host: I apologize—we forgot to roll the trash bins to the road on trash day. We were preoccupied with the pool issue and it slipped our minds.)
