Some of the front desk people speak a little English, some none at all. We arrived at 9:30am and was pleasantly surprised that they let us check in. Lots of eating places around but not much else’s to do within walking distance, we did walk to the 1000 Buddha temple that was around 2 or 3 km. Kind of strange, they have parked cars in the lobby and motorbikes drive right through to get to a parking lot. Only gripe was a room service experience, we called down and a man answered, tried to order and he said “don’t speak English” so I went to the front desk and pointed on the menu to what I wanted, food came up and nothing was correct! The room reminds me of 1990s hotels in Asia, basic and not modern, but clean, with decent bedding and quiet from street noise, which to us was the most important. There does not seem to be a breakfast option, but standard food can be ordered in the room at reasonable prices. Within walking distance of Thien Hau temple and 10-15min walk from Binh Tay market (closed for renovations between Nov.16 and Nov 17) and St Xavier church, it is also a convenient base to explore Cholon area. Had a very terrible experience while checking in. The room is not very dirty however the bed is rather uncomfortable.
