Excellent Home, Rough Neighborhood At The Moment…

The home was beautiful and spacious. The Owner was very accommodating. Unfortunately the association is allowing all kinds of parties on the weekends. Felt like an "In The Hood" experience. The music was loud enough to shake the house we stayed at. Fights in the streets. Naked people exposed and people puking in public. Unfair treatment due to fear (we were told we couldn't keep a trailer on the property, had to find a place to park it off site for two seeks, but the neighboring house pulled in with 4 car trailers ,blocking the road, but because they were an intimidating bunch from Chicago, nothing was done to them)I would recommend you make sure they took appropriate steps to stop the all night parties before booking. This property was not as pictured. One of the problems is that you don't know what unit you are getting. I cannot mention the unit # in the review, so other units may be ok. The owner has the same pictures listed for all the units. Property is in very, very sad shape - Refrigerator door is beat up and rusting. Furniture beat up - cabinets, headboards, bureaus, chests Blinds - water damaged and paint blobs and drips Ceiling fans - master bedroom - no chain to control fan speed, can't turn fan off and have overhead light on Metal closet doors - difficult to open or close, sounds like nails against chalkboard. No bedspreads or comforters on double beds Dust ruffles wrinkled like they had been just taken out of packaging or crushed in a ball and thrown on beds Kitchen - virtually no cooking utensils or pots or plans, no frying pan, cookie sheet or oven pans. No bowls to mix something in. There were only 3 saucepans and a dutch oven size pot, which I used as a frying pan to make pancakes and French toast. No spatula, only 2 large spoons and 1 large fork - that was it for cooking utensils. We just wanted to make breakfast, not trying to do any fancy cooking. There were no glasses that a child could handle. There were about 6 very heavy 8 ounce glasses. Not all cabinet shelves were lined, dust from disintegrating particle board on shelves. Kitchen counters - spots with laminate missing - damaged somehow. Dishwasher - did not clean dishes. Carpet in the 2nd bedroom had something on it - gum? Couldn't tell. Daughter was afraid to put stuff on the floor. TVs - analog, not flat screen, pictures in VRBO showed flat screen. DVD not included, which was ok, because we thought we would be able to connect our own device on flat screen with HDMI cable. It was a very inhospitable setting. When we entered there were gnats flying around and a couple dead ones in the unit. Good stuff - it felt and smelled clean, but the other stuff gave you the creeps. Check in was very easy and the front desk people were very nice. Promptly resolved a couple of issues. I didn't even mention just the dated-ness of the place - out of the 70's, but I could live with that if it didn't look so beat up. The location wasn't great - it was 20+ minutes to Disney.
