Here escape the traffic, crowds, and noise that so often accompany beach destinations at the quietest private beach on the island that the public cannot access. This is also a wonderful walking area and good for crabbing. Bring the beach chairs we provide, your happy hour snacks for sunset, wiggle your toes in the sand, and breathe in the fresh sea air. Everywhere you turn, more opportunities welcome you – 70 miles of paved, level island bike trails, 10 of which are in this neighborhood and connect across the island to the others winding through forested views of the 4 public golf courses just in this neighborhood alone, plus the beauty of lagoons and the ocean. And this is on 6 bikes we provide with locks and baskets – bring your own helmets! The new Lazy River swishes folks along on provided swim noodles through tropical scenery and past playful animal sculptures.. After this, swim under the bridge to the adjoining huge pool. Later return closer to the house, where 2 blocks away is a Quiet Time pool for rest and relaxation. Loungers and umbrellas surround a scenic enclave where swimming, reading and relaxing are available without the excitement of the other area. This is an easy bike ride from the house. Car parking is also available at both swim sites. I'll send you a list of the popular, busy public beaches to help you decide which ones suit you. A 15 minute drive to these from the house. This 3000 sq ft home in our desirable, gated community sits on a half acre lot amidst palms, bountiful azaleas and towering Carolina pines overlooking a scenic lagoon, and with easy proximity to the private 2 mile long, wild beach, 2 pools, one 2 blocks away, and the fun Lazy River with its splash pads, a 10 minute bike ride. TENNIS, and GOLF (4 public courses) are inside the neighborhood available either on a bike or by car. At the house, there is ample space for different activities for different people - cooking, reading, sunning, biking, watching movies, bird watching, listening to music, and big desk work space with internet of course. You may find you explore the area less because of this home's well designed comforts, elegance, and serenity. Our large kitchen has plenty of counter and cupboard space and bright window views to make family cooking together fun with lots of utensils and pots and pans. . Later sample some of the locals' favorite waterfront restaurants very close by. (We have left our suggestions for you). No neon signs, no casinos, no motorcycles, no bright night lights, but instead a respect for natural beauty, peacefulness, and recreation. The private neighborhood beach is a 5 minute car ride in our neighborhood or a 15 minute bike ride to this beach and a shade parking area with a children’s playground and a washroom. And the gorgeous, busy public beaches are only a 15 minutes drive. Grocery stores are right here at the perimeter of the houses without having to use the busy summer hwys . And the island’s best restaurants and activities – dolphin cruises, chartered fishing, kayaking tours, sunset cruises, zip lining, boat rentals, jet skis – are all here because this is the island’s largest year round community where store owners choose to provide consistent year round business rather than only in tourist season. At this end of the island, you will enjoy free Tuesday night fireworks, outdoor movie evenings and more restaurants on the water than at any other island location. The Coastal Discovery Museum for those who love local history and nature is close by run in conjunction with the Smithsonian. And a Civil War fort close to the house can be reached by bike or car to tour alone or on the days when guides are present reminding us all of those past days when the US struggled to remain together. This made for some very uncomfortable situations for me. My needs were discussed prior to scheduling this home for my vacation. The community was beautiful. My family enjoyed the community pool and lazy river during our brief stay. We will be staying in Hilton Head, again but at a wheelchair friendly property and home. ##### Shawna C. We enjoyed our stay very much but I booked this very quickly without reading all the fine print carefully and looking closely at all the photos. This is a nontraditional rental, in that it has white carpet and very formal furniture. It is not like a condo or townhouse that is up to date with modern amenities. The house has not been updated ; however the laundry room was great. We had plenty of room, but one of the rooms is an office, rather than a bedroom. The TV is in this office, rather than the living room but we were not at the house much at all. The plantation is a retirement community, but very well kept and the folks were very nice! The pool area and playground were lovely, but my kids were expecting a big lazy river - like the photo- and it was just a small little track , which we did enjoy! The "wild" beach there is beautiful, but we had to drive to the public beach for swimming. There are excellent directions and suggestions by the homeowner. We went Labor Day weekend and the North end of the island was lovely without traffic and we could quickly get to our favorite shops and restaurants. The house did come with bikes for the community. My family made this nontraditional rental work just fine. Families with young children might not want to stay in the delicate home. We also had to be very careful while staying, as it is decorated more like a home, not a rental. I love HH and enjoyed my visit but be sure you look carefully at the details before renting, ##### Kathryn K. It was fairly secluded with a local pool and nature conservancy within walking distance. The home was spacious and showed its age. The furniture was antique like and the carpet was white. The house had a lot of rules. The 2 bedrooms had hide-a-bed couches in them but you can't use them as beds due to placement of them they can't be pulled out into beds. The den had a couch but it wasn't a hide-a-bed couch. We aren't fans of sleeping on couches. My daughter had to sleep on an air mattress in the same bedroom as my husband and I which isnt ideal but we made it work. The plantation property was nice with a lazy river and swimming pool for guest to use. The private beach was a disappointment as swimming wasn't allowed but we did go for a walk on it and found some awesome shells. The public beaches were awesome and we loved the ocean which is our favorite part of our vacation. The restaurants were all delicious. Our favorite was South Beaches The Salty Dog 10/10 recommended. We would definitely vacation again in Hilton Head but pick a different place to stay. Overall a 3/5 rating. ##### Sarah B. There are 2 bedrooms with full bathrooms and a third half bathroom. The location allows for easy access to very many places to visit including the Spring Lake recreation center where the pool, lazy river and splash pad is located. There are many restaurants near by as well as grocery stores and shopping outlets. The host is very responsive and so very helpful providing information not only about the house but things to do and places to see. The Dolphin Head Beach and recreation area is nearby and has a playground especially good for kids. There were many things on our list of things to do but we ran out of time to do everything but those we did were wonderful. ##### Eric V. This was first time on the Northern part of the island. It was the best ever. Not as busy as the other parts of the island with all the essentials. It's a quiet neighborhood that has access to many amenities. Colleen and Don, the hosts, were excellent. They were very communicative and resolve issues quickly. They went above and beyond by allowing us to check in one day later and check out one day later. Hurricane 🌀 Ian was coming through which would have made travel treacherous. She is easy to contact and swift to reply. She is friendly and blunt. A lot if folks think blunt is rude, but I don't like to have my time wasted, so I prefer someone to not beat around the bush. She is honest and I enjoyed my conversation with her. Anything you may have an issue with, let her know firsthand, as she may be unaware of this issue and hasn't had the opportunity to address it.
