The closest beach is Folly Field Beach. There is a dedicated paved path from the house all the way to the beach. Walking to the beach takes about 6-8 min (it can take longer with kids or older family members) from the Sandcastles by the Sea main gates. You can drive your car or a golf cart to the beach. There is beach parking with 51 metered parking spaces and 3 ADA-accessible spaces. Check the Town of Hilton Head Island's official website for current parking rates. Why Folly Field Beach is one of the best beaches in Hilton Head: • Folly Field Beach is beautiful • Has parking. A short walk from the parking over the wooden access ramp continued with an access path mat over the dunes. ADA accessible • Beach amenities: bathroom, shower, bike rack, drinking fountain, trash cans, vending machines with drinks • Lifeguard during the summer season • Less crowded than Coligny Beach • Some other Hilton Head beaches have no lifeguards, no access ramps, no amenities, no parking • Some other Hilton Head beaches require a long walk from the parking lot • With no amenities on other beaches and in some neighborhoods, you have to walk home if you or your kids need to use the bathroom • Hard to drag beach wagons on other beaches with no access ramp Elevator Note: This property features a residential elevator for occasional adult use. If you have littles be ready to drive to the beach and pay for parking. It’s a doable walk for adults and teens but kiddos tired after a day on the beach would find the trek hard. You’re also in a townhome community so know that you can basically touch the houses next to you! Our first few nights were peaceful but we had rowdy neighbors join in during the trip and stayed up until after 3am one night!! Thank god for sound machines! I’d highly suggest bringing them! We loved the pool, perfect for littles and covered so we didn’t have to worry about sunscreen! A/c was great but the kitchen could have been better equipped for cooking and grilling! We had some issues with the elevator and ultimately decided to not use it. We also didn’t really use the main floor patio as it was quite dirty. The home is beautifully and comfortably decorated! It’s a home that you want to lounge around in! We’ve been to many where everything is so old and uncomfortable, not the case here. We all slept great on the mattresses! While this unit is stunning and fit our needs, the proximity to others and disrupted sleep would prevent us from staying here again. ##### Elizabeth N. The added plus is the pool. We did have a hiccup with the elevator when we first arrived but it was quickly fixed. We did not use it after that until it was time to leave and take the luggage down.
