A deck with table and chairs expands the living space. Very quiet location behind the owners house. There is a fenced in yard at this cabin perfect for a dog to explore. There is a barn and fenced area for the two horses. A large section of the pasture has reverted to natural plantings which attract a variety of birds. The road to the cabin runs along the pasture providing viewing and photographing opportunities. The host lives on the property and was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area. We liked the location - about 2 miles or so to the center of town. It was on the smaller side but great for 2 people and had everything we needed. Having horses on the property was a plus. The location is amazing — right near a hiking trail to waterfalls — and the views on the property are incredible. It's also within a 5 minute drive to downtown highlands. Close to Highlands center and to the beautiful scenery around the area, the cabin is compact and manageable for a getaway. It would even be perfect for one person who wants seclusion. If you have a dog, be sure to have a leash if s/he doesn’t listen well - ours doesn’t - as there are places to wander off to.
