Hay Boathouse/Maes-y-Caer is a beautifully appointed barn conversion just a short walk from the bustling book town of Hay-on-Wye, perfect for families and groups seeking a peaceful, yet well-connected rural escape. The spacious interior blends rustic charm with modern comforts.  
  
The large kitchen features all the need modern appliances, and a central island, ideal for sociable cooking. A separate utility room houses the washing machine and tumble dryer, and there’s a convenient ground floor toilet. The generous living/dining room boasts exposed beams, a wood burner, and patio doors leading to an outdoor seating area. A sunroom with two sofa beds offers alternative sleeping arrangements and direct access to a garden with a gas BBQ, garden furniture, and a wood-fired hot tub. Multiple garden seating areas offer space to relax and soak up the views. On the ground floor, a double bedroom with an en-suite shower and patio doors provides easy garden access. Upstairs, the super king size bedroom features exposed beams and an en-suite shower. There’s also a stylish bathroom with a freestanding bath and a family room with two bunk beds and games tables. A second-floor double room with a child’s sofa bed completes the accommodation. Private parking is available for up to five vehicles.  
  
Nestled just outside Hay-on-Wye, Maes-y-Caer offers the perfect base for exploring the best of the Welsh Borders and the Brecon Beacons National Park. Staying at Maes-y-Caer puts you in the heart of ne of the UK’s most scenic and culturally rich regions. Just a short walk away is Hay-on-Wye, a charming market town internationally known as the “Town of Books.” Its winding streets are home to over 20 independent bookshops, art galleries, antique stores, and artisan cafés. If you’re visiting in late spring, don’t miss the Hay Festival, a globally renowned literary event attracting writers, thinkers, and artists from across the world.  
  
Outdoor lovers are spoilt for choice. The nearby Brecon Beacons National Park and Black Mountains offer countless opportunities for walking, hiking, mountain biking, and horse riding.
