Short distance to lovely walks, waterfalls and pubs. House itself was overall great although could do with internal access to the lower rooms. Views from the house were beautiful. We were a large family of 16 ages 5-85 and there was plenty of room for all. We had a fantastic weekend. Some elements of the house were a little rough round the edges - grass hasn’t been cut, some minor cleanliness issues but nothing that would stop me from recommended it. ##### Nicola This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### James Mar 15, 2025 #### Brilliant spot for a larger group. With older and younger people amongst them. Views are amazing from the balcony and rooms. Very convenient location. Minor inconvenience having to go outside to gain access to the lower rooms. But there are plans to build an interior staircase to resolve this from plans we saw. Would be a great addition. Great hosting/cooking and relaxing pace. Our whole group were able to come together in the living room to make memories together. ##### James This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Christine Jul 30, 2024 #### Loxley House Hawes The location was excellent just a few minutes walk into the town. The views from the house were beautiful and a very peaceful place. The house has everything you need with so much space to move around in. The beds were comfy. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with all the utensils and crockery you need. All in all a lovely house. Getting easier access to the downstairs bedrooms which there was a note on the gates saying planning was in progress for this. ##### Christine This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Georgia Oct 12, 2024 #### The stay at Loxley House was lovely. The house in Hawes is in a peaceful, private setting with easy access to the small local shops. Worth being aware that a "proper supermarket" is 45 minutes away. It was a perfect house and location for our family get together, with plenty of space for all of us. The house was also spotless. We unfortunately had an issue with the alarm and the electricity not working when we arrived but an electrician was sent out the next morning. ##### Georgia This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Joanna Jan 19, 2024 #### Great place for friends and family alike Fab home from home in a wonderful location with loads of walks, little shops and pubs on the doorstep.lovely bathrooms and mostly comfy beds ensuring a very pleasant stay. A few problems related to unsuitable furniture and power outages, along with great excitement followed by disappointment from the ladies when the second dishwasher wasn’t working 🤣 but overall nothing that really impacted on our very relaxing and comfortable stay. ##### Joanna This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Lyn Oct 19, 2023 #### 50th Wedding Celebration Although we wer just behind the main street, it was very quiet and peaceful Could have done with a mirror in our bedroom above the kitchen. the keys for the undercroft need labelling clearly ##### Lyn This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Giordan Oct 5, 2024 #### The property perfectly catered for 14 adults and 4 children of various ages. We had a great weekend. Each bedroom had own private bathroom and access from outside and the shared spaces catered for all of us well. Our only complaint was that there was an excessive amount of flies and bugs all over the house. Dead bugs littered the windowsills and peppered the bedspreads and then there were many large clusters of active flies and bugs throughout the house and in the individual bedrooms. It didn’t deter us from having a great time but might be off putting for some. ##### Giordan This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Margaret Apr 21, 2024 #### A great property for a large group. Easy access to spectacular walking and village amenities. The property is well located in the centre of Hawes within reach of all village amenities. The views from the property are spectacular. We were a large group and were very comfortable. There was plenty of hot water, we were warm and the kitchen facilities were great for us to cater for ourselves. We had some difficulty finding the key box as there are two but it was no problem in the end. In the property there are loads of keys and loads of doors, these could be better labeled. This minor frustration was more than compensated for by the rest of the property which is perfect for a large group. ##### Margaret This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Doug Sep 6, 2024 #### Loxley House Great location in the centre of Hawes but with stunning distant views. Generally well appointed and comfortable accommodation. The welcome pack was a particularly pleasant surprise Some equipment equipment had not been checked. For example both gas lighters had run out of gas. one of the two dishwashers failed ( which is a problem with 14 guests ) and although reported was not rectified. All of the cooks knives were very blunt ##### Doug This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### John Nov 24, 2024 #### Nice stay in Hawes Great location, spacious property for a large group. The house was generally clean and in good condition. Only one of the two dishwashers was working - the digital displays for these were in a foreign language so difficult to use. The dishwashers could do with a clean - they were a bit smelly. Not all the bedrooms had mirrors and there were no hairdryers in any of the bedrooms. Only one light was working in the hallway of the lower floor so the doorways to two of the bedrooms were permanently in darkness. One of the external doors had no key and had to be kept locked from the inside. ##### John This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Corinne Jan 14, 2025 #### Comfortable and warm in beautiful surroundings Spacious accommodation, comfortable beds and large kitchen with good space for large groups. Set in amazing countryside and within a very short walk of picturesque Hawes. The Spar shop has everything you could ever need, post office nearby and friendly pub too. The creamery is a must see. Welcome pack was small for the size of group. Would have been helpful to have advanced notice of what was included so we could have brought extra items. Could have done with 3 toilet rolls per bathroom instead of just 2\. Washing up liquid and nicer washing cloths (J cloths were hopeless at mopping spills or wiping surfaces) would have been helpful. As mentioned to the owners, a few items of furniture are broken and at risk of causing injury. The sofa leg was also broken but I didn’t mention that earlier, I only noticed when checking under the sofa in case we had left anything. Kettle drips when being poured and saucepans are quite dented. Hot tap in kitchen is missing a part which makes it very difficult to use. ##### Corinne ### 8/10 Good #### Jeremy K. Aug 10, 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location, listing accuracy #### Good Location and House The house is in a good location in the heart of Hawes. The house has three good reception rooms and 7 bedrooms, 5 of which are ensuite which are ideal for large groups as we were 13\. 3 of the lower ground floor bedrooms were only accessible from the outside down steep steps, which is a drawback in poor weather and external lighting that worked would be helpful. We had a few issues that we reported and the property contractors could only resolve one issue immediately which was disappointing as we were paying £700 a night. The unresolved items were quite important and one related to drainage and there was no internal lighting to access the lower ground floor bedrooms. Some additional equipment in the kitchen would be useful as 2 tea towels are not sufficient, a few small sharp knives and deep roasting dishes would be useful for large groups. The dishwashers are programmed in turkish which is a bit of a challenge. We did enjoy our stay but resolution of the above areas would greatly improve the customers enjoyment of the property. ##### Jeremy K. Excellent location, in a lovely Yorkshire Dales town. It's a great building that suited our needs very well. Rooms were well appointed and furnished. This was a good choice for a family holiday, and we'd definitely stay again. Lacking internal staircase from ground floor. There were no lights in one of the interior bathrooms, and a corridor and no maintenance came out to resolve. ##### Peter
