Traditional but in need of some TLC.
Staff were excellent, room was very good, plenty of room and clean, other than the windows. The communal areas were looking tired. Breakfast was very nice, evening meal was OK. Parking on the road outside, get a ticket from reception for £2 a day. Nice location but a fair walk to the main shopping centre. Although it needs some updating, it is part of its charm. Found a lovely pub close to the rear of the hotel called the marine, lovely atmosphere and superb food at reasonable prices.

Nice to have a swimming pool, though its shape, state of decor, water clarity, and ambience left a bit to be desired. Fundamentally, the hotel is tired. A comprehensive clean and redecoration would boost it enormously. Why don't the housekeeping staff do a basic check each day - one of the cups was dirty and there was a bulb missing from one of the lights. It's a good location. Some of the information on the website is a little unclear and lacking (eg it says there's no car park, but doesn't mention the availability of parking permits). The wifi signal in my room (152) was non-existent, so I had to use my phone as a hotspot.

Lovely location, friendly staff Needs a good clean
It is a lovely location, a large hotel with friendly staff. our room was tiny with a view over an alleyway, We had a fair bit of noise in the night from outside, but I guess that cant be helped. The room looked as though it had never been cleaned. the floor was filthy, thick with dust and had nail clippings on it. under the beds were like just horrific. the picture rail was thick with dust and cobwebs everywhere.Bead sheets were ripped and had hair on them. Bathroom was 'ok' shower was weak at best. the room was serviced daily, however beds were not made, just the sheet simply launched at the bed.

The seafront location was appealing. Parking was free on the roads to the rear. The staff were so polite and curteous and there was a swimming pool! Breakfast was also yummy. Only down sides (hence not a 5 star review) is that the pool area and changing rooms were quite dirty and worn. Also sheets had a stain. Otherwise a really lovely stay.

We’d expected one large room but instead found ourselves in a 2 bedroom flat! Clean, new bathrooms and area was wonderful. Ate in the restaurant twice and staff were lovely and attentive and food was great. Would definitely return.

Good location, had a room with a view but it was very noisy (motorcycles sounded like they were racing out front) and we closed windows and it was like they were still open, no air conditioning, curtain on bathroom window was see through, bed and pillow were hard as a rock, all three of us noticed and didn’t sleep well, staff at breakfast made it feel like we were bothering them when asking for sugar packets etc as there were none at our table.

Old hotel - not for a summer visit
The hotel is quite dated and in need of renovation. There is no A/C so on a summer night you have to leave windows open or the room is unbearably stuufy and damp and the street noise is quite bad. Meals in the restaurant are so-so and very expensive considering. The staff however, were excellent.

The hotel was so lovely. Unfortunately it was so hot in the room. The small fan was not fixing anything. Parking a car was basically hopeless after 4pm. Room very spacious, a fridge would make it even better. Loved our stay!

Overall a pleasant stay. Slight delay when checking in due to room not being quite ready. Room was clean and fairly comfortable, although the pillows were hard. No bottled water in the room. Bathroom large, a bit dated, had shower above the bath which worked but wasn't brilliant.

The hotel is so old dirty and tired
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! Bathroom not clean. Stains all over the carpet. Bed springs poking through. Rooms do not look like on website. Food very average for the prices. Best need to know how bad this hotel is.

Slightly tired property. Did have a bar but very few seem to use, so no atmosphere. one good thing at breakfast - the main hot meal is prepared to order. Hotel has a terrace facing the sea, so nice to sit out if weather warm

Stayed in Eastbourne to go the tennis, hotel was a 15 min walk to tennis. Hotel situated right opposite the beach, great to walk along the esplanade.

Extremely tired, outdated and grubby. Not like any BW hotel I’ve ever stayed at. And certainly not value for money. Although bed and towels were clean, it’s a very old hotel that has not been refreshed probably since it opened. I wouldn’t stay there again even though staff were friendly and efficient at reception.
