We loved our stay! …

We spent a super relaxing and enjoyable two weeks at Lauren's Lakehouse. She is a kind, generous, and highly responsive host. This place has the quirky charm of a cottage with all the comforts and conveniences of a house. The large outdoor deck has a great view of the lovely gardens with Lake Simcoe as the backdrop, and it feels very private. The location is convenient with the Allendale Go train station a 25 minute drive away and you can ride your bikes about 13 km along a well-maintained path to Orillia where you'll find parks, shops and restaurants. This is a great place for biking, boating, swimming, or just hanging out by the water. There are slippery rocks to walk on when venturing into the lake, so you might want to bring water shoes. The property and rooms look dated but nice. I loved the brick walls. The pool area was open, but under construction and could be cheered up a little. My kids loved it though. Breakfast was good. The hard to reach spots in the hotel room weren't vacuumed for a while. The home made cookies that were waiting for us on the reception desk every night were delicious. Amazing Waterfront Cottage at Big Bay Point

Amit was very responsive to questions that we had prior and post-booking. The comments made in the previous review were all taken care of by the time we arrived so that was really nice to see (re: no blinds in bedrooms, fridge & BBQ cleanliness). Amit knew we were coming with 3 year olds and there were some legos, a sand/water outdoor toy and a water floating toy available which was a nice and considerate gesture. This is a great place for someone with mobility issues b/c of the main floor bedroom & walk-in shower bath. Also, the living room has plenty of space for a family with kids to play in on a rainy day. Access to the water was great, though the beach is rock not sand, it is shallow past the dock for kids to walk in. As previously mentioned, there are still likely some renos planned, like the upstairs bathroom, as the cottage is a mix between new construction (great room, main floor bedroom, bathroom) and old.
