The layout was intentionally designed with separate spaces for adults and children, allowing everyone to relax without feeling crowded. The home features a distinctive vintage-modern aesthetic, blending retro charm with comfort. Shag carpeting, custom ceramic tile, detailed woodwork, and a curated mix of retro antiques and custom furnishings create a warm, memorable atmosphere while remaining functional and welcoming. THE HOME The main great room includes an HD TV with Roku, a DVD player, and a DVD library, making it an ideal space for relaxed evenings after a day exploring the shoreline, hiking, or skiing. The basement includes a pool table, board games, an HD TV with Roku, and a PlayStation 2 with games. This lower-level area provides a dedicated space for kids and teens while allowing adults to enjoy quieter time upstairs. THE LOCATION The home is located directly on the famous Tunnel of Trees, one of Michigan’s most scenic drives and a favorite route for cyclists and fall color tours. Set in Harbor Springs along Lake Michigan, the property offers a quiet, private setting with sweeping views and easy access to Northern Michigan’s most scenic coastal areas. You're close to Petoskey, Charlevoix, Cross Village, the Inland Waterway, and the Straits of Mackinac. On clear days, you can even see Beaver Island from the property. THE BLUFF AND SHORELINE Perched atop a 130-foot bluff, the home offers sweeping panoramic views of Lake Michigan. Filtered views are visible from the house, while completely unobstructed views can be enjoyed from the meandering bluffside staircase and secluded sun deck leading to the very private Lake Michigan frontage. Conditions permitting, guests can walk for miles along the shoreline without seeing another person, offering a rare sense of solitude and scale reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest. Lake Michigan water levels and shoreline conditions change over time. Shore conditions vary by season and year and cannot be guaranteed. At times the shoreline may be rocky rather than sandy. Once in the water, there is typically a band of rocks followed by sandy bottom. Water shoes are strongly recommended and are well worth bringing. SEASONAL NOTES Fireplace available Thanksgiving through April 1. For winter stays, an all-wheel-drive vehicle or front-wheel-drive vehicle with good snow tires is strongly recommended. WHAT WE PROVIDE A starter supply of paper goods and soap products is provided and is typically sufficient for a three-night stay for smaller groups. Our family had an amazing time at this unique and comfortable rental in Harbor Springs. The house is right on the Tunnel of Trees, and the views of Lake Michigan were absolutely breathtaking. The retro 1960s vibe of the decor, with vintage records, games, and TV shows, made it feel like a trip back in time, but with all the modern comforts. The house was spotless, with plenty of space—4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms—plus a huge kitchen that made meals a breeze. We loved walking along the Tunnel of Trees and the walks along the shore were so, SO peaceful. Sleeping here was a dream—the beds were super comfy, and the quiet surroundings were perfect for relaxing. It was also a great location for exploring. We enjoyed dining at local spots that were recommended in the ‘info’ book at the house and took a scenic drive to Mackinaw City. This place was the perfect getaway, and we’ll definitely be back! ##### Sofia K. We had a wonderful time during our stay and the colors in the tunnel of trees was beautiful. We had some minor issues when we arrived - no trash bag in the trash container in the kitchen and the trash bag box was empty. The toilet seat in the half bath was cracked and broken. I texted the issues with the host. The next day when we returned from a day out we found the toilet seat had been replaced, but the trash bags they left were for the small trash bins in the bathrooms - no big deal - we managed to snag a couple from a restaurant we ate at. We were a bit disappointed the deck hadn't been cleaned up - the table was dirty and their were leaves and ashes covering most of it - we never went out on it to enjoy the view. The house is spacious and the kitchen is large, but the interior is starting to show some age and living room furniture and downstairs furniture (futons) are not comfortable to sit on - exception is the large chaise in the upstairs LR. The bed upstairs and the main level are very hard and no one had a good night sleep the 3 nights we were there. The bunk beds were a bit better, but still not comfortable. The upstairs bathroom door won't stay open - it kept bumping me when I was at the vanity. The bathroom down stairs is large but there really isn't any space to put your toiletries. We couldn't get the stereo to work. No laundry soap was available. The pool sticks need tips. I do want to say the host was VERY nice and kept in contact with us. ##### Suzy F. We enjoyed the art, the comfort of the beds, the view, the silence in the woods, the Lake of course, and the proximity to Harbor Springs and Petoskey. The steps to the beach were a daily challenge, but well maintained, and the deck midway down was a big plus. We rode our bikes through the stunning tunnel of trees daily for our morning coffee at the Trillium coffee shop. It is such a pleasure to stay in this beautiful home with first-class amenities, nestled in the woods on Lake Michigan. ##### Carol S. Location was across from Lake Michigan and had excellent views. House was well cleaned and spacious. Plenty of room for our group plus one dog.
