There's lots of upscale hotels and restaurants in the area so finding affordable meals near here is a bit tough. Our biggest issue was privacy: the female dorm is on the first floor with glass in the door and the beds had no curtains on them - so you had nowhere to change clothes in privacy, sleep without lights bothering you, look at your phone at night without lighting up the whole dorm, etc. Bathrooms left a lot to be desired: there are two toilet stalls and two shower stalls and these are shared with anyone who visits the restaurant and bar at the hostel...so lots of drunk people who miss the toilet. Also, there's no door leading to the toilets so your entrance/exit and feet can literally be seen all the way from the entrance of the hostel. Shower pressure is non-existent, but hot water situation is fine. Biggest problem here is trying to change or shower in the stall while the cleaning lady is throwing buckets and buckets and buckets of water at the toilets to clean them off and being splashed by all that gross liquid under the stalls since the walls don't go to the floor. Staff is friendly enough and able to book excursions and rent mopeds (in desperate need of maintenance...rider beware). Free breakfast is a great perk. Beds are comfortable. Lockers are large and clean. Pool is on the small side but great for a quick dip on a hot day. The pool was a huge bonus, all the staff was very friendly and easy to talk to, very helpful with planning outings giving good advice and sharing their experiences. This is a great location. It is away from the city center and in a location without much budget orientated accommodations. The certainly get great value for your money. It was very convenient. One thing - the lockers look good, but the back of the lockers are not secured very well. The back as coming off. The lockers were pushed up against the wall and I never leave anything of value; but I do like to have some security for my luggage. Really lovely people. The location is superb.. . Right on the promenade on west lake. Pool was a great bonus. Electronic combination locks. Loved it! It was a pleasure staying at 7Fridays Westlake. Location Is amazing and the staff were great. Bunks were comfortable and I loved the curtains on each bunk that provided privacy.
