This was our family's first trip to Hawai'i and we're so lucky to have found this special spot. The property is far enough away from touristy spots that you feel like you've got your only little slice of tropical paradise. The house and grounds were immaculate. The amenities (pots, pans, appliances, dinnerware, toilet tissue, etc) were more than adequate. We loved seeing and hearing birds and geckos. The stream behind the house attracted herons and ducks. The flowering plants and fruit trees attracted cardinals and white-eyes. We also loved the extra dark night sky that let us see the Milky Way with the naked eye and a zillion stars that you don't normally get to see in populated areas. For folks that come after us you should know... The property is tucked into the edge of a tropical wilderness. There are mosquitos. They weren't what I'd call excessive but they're there. It's also adjacent to a neighborhood drive that parallels the stream behind the house. You will see and hear cars going by and hear dogs barking. Again nothing I would call excessively loud or excessively frequent but it does occasionally interrupt the serenity of the property. Also, there are many gorgeous beaches you'll be tempted to swim in because "you're the only ones there". There's a reason why you won't see anyone swimming at that gorgeous beach - because it's too dangerous. There are select spots that are protected by reef or land and generally considered safe during certain times of the year. The property owner provides a brochure that you need to review before going to the beach. Read it. We were able to enjoy a few very safe days at the beach splashing and snorkeling with the help of the property owner (thank you Mark). Overall, I would recommend this property to anyone, especially if they love nature.
