Secluded, Laidback 2BR Condo Hanalei Colony Resort I1 is unique among north shore Kauai condo resorts. Recently voted one of Travel + Leisure's top 20 favorite resorts, these vacation rentals are directly on the path to follow, just take a few steps and you're on the sand. And I1 is the closest building, directly on the beach. You can also take advantage of the restaurant and spa onsite, or prepare your own food in your apartment's full kitchen or on the gas grills provided. Pool, jacuzzi and barbecue are conveniently close. This condo has a large shady lanai that puts you 10 steps from the sand. There are two bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other with two twin beds. Both bedrooms can be closed off from the shared living areas with wooden louver doors that preserve the refreshing airflow while providing visual privacy. Note that sound will still carry, so if you're streaming a late-night movie, be sure to keep the volume low. The living and dining areas are comfortably furnished and there are spectacular beach views from the large picture windows. There's a full bath and a half bath. While there are no televisions or cable television service in the complex, wifi is provided so you won't be completely cut off from the modern world. (Only as cut off as you want to be.) In addition to Hanalei Colony Resort I1's beautiful interior and views, and the beach just in front, guests can enjoy the swimming pool, jacuzzi, barbecue grills, and guest laundry room. You can walk next door to the Opakapaka Bar and Grill. Also located just across the parking lot is the Hanalei Day Spa. Just ten minutes past the charming town of Hanalei, you'll find that shopping and dining options are conveniently close. It's the perfect Kauai vacation rental for proposals, honeymoons, anniversaries, and other romantic occasions. While wonderfully furnished and right next to the beach, please know that the development was built in simpler times. The units are smaller and have kitchens to match. Some normal amenities will be absent given the space and purposeful attempt to honor the simplicity of earlier times: you won’t find a dishwasher or washing machine in any of the units (there is a laundry room on the premises), and most units have no televisions (though wifi is available for those of us who can't escape work or want to stream our favorite shows). As with most homes on Kauai, this vacation rental is NOT air conditioned. Although this home has internet, the speed and reliability cannot be guaranteed due to the remote location and the service being provided by a third-party. If there’s a downside, it’s the driving distance to attractions, but being almost at the end of the line—there are seven one-lane bridges between the condo and the nearest town!—truly allows one to unplug, breathe, and relax. It was Easter Sunday and on one was available to come. Luckily, the rental company had an available unit for us to spend the night in. We thoroughly loved and enjoyed our short stay at Hanalei Colony Resort. We were just feet from the beach, loved soaking up the great views from our lanai, and enjoyed the simple amenities of the condo. The grounds keeping was very good and there was beautiful landscaping. No fancy frills, just basic amenities to help you unplug. ##### Ross M. We loved the location even though driving to other locations on the island were sometimes a bit time-consuming. Plenty of sun here throughout our week-long stay. Great location near the beach. Not very swimmable, but loved falling to sleep listening to the waves and watching the sunrise every day. Plenty of other beaches nearby also. If there is a rental closer to the beach on Kauai, I'd like to see it. It was 25 yards from the Lanai to the beach, and this rental is away from all the traffic and crowds. Very remote and quiet but for the sound of crashing waves. New pool pavillion/BBQ center is nice. Shuttle to north shore sites is an added bonus given parking can be limited. We were cozy in this clean and unit! Being able to go back and forth easily to Tunnels was amazing! ##### Angel C. The unit was as promised, lots of space to spread out , there were only two of us but there would be lots of room for four. The bed was comfy and the ocean breeze cooled us off in the evening. The kitchen was big. We didn't use any of the resort facilities like the pool. There was a beach chair and umbrella and cooler of for use. It was very breezy when we were the end of May so we weren't able to sit on the deck as much as we had hoped. If you have a reservation on the shuttle that takes you to the state park they will pick you up at the resort and that was great especially at the end of the day.he We didn't have a great experience at the onsite restaurant, maybe just a bad night for them. Only issue was the property manager not responding in a timely to our concern of the smoke detector randomly beeping one evening which lead to the battery dying a few days later and the smoke detector blaring while we were out. I felt bad for the people around us cause it was very loud! ##### Linda J.
