The hotel was absolutely lovely inside. Gorgeous artworks, modern and spacious lobby. The restaurant and bar was amazing and staff were friendly and attentive. The food was great and the service too. Our room was simple and very clean, perfect for what we needed. The view was not too bad, the area its in looks run down, with derelict buildings and graffiti and sewage smells to one side amd a nice park and the river to another. I mean its close to a motorway and train station...good transport links so we hopped on and off of the trains, we couldn't fault the public transport system. Not sure how safe i felt walking back under the motorway at night-time, but didnt see many people. The hotel felt very safe and I would return again. Thanks for having us Hamburg!

On the outskirts of the city centre but easy transport links. Hotel reception staff very professional and efficient. The triple room we had had a lovely view overlooking the river but was rather dated. Mattress edge was rather saggy. Didn't have breakfast as at €20 each it's far too expensive. Housekeeping could have been better, didn't replace coffee sachets or toiletries.

Very weak location and disappointing service.
I was very disappointed with this hotel. Location is very weak and surrounding does not look great. You have to take taxi or public transport as walking - despite not long distance - to center is not very pleasant. Service was quite weak as there are in the reception generally young and not very experienced staff. Breakfast is expensive (20 Euros) in comparison to other hotels in Germany. Unfortunately, there is no other option close to hotel. The cost of the hotel is very high comparing to value, which offers. I do not understand why it has 4 stars... I will never stay again in that Holiday Inn.

too expensive for a broken mattress
The hotel doesn't even deserve 3 stars, let alone 4. We paid for a triple room with 3 single beds, and got 2 beds and an extra bed with 2 mattresses that can be joined, height 30 cm from the floor. When I tried to ask for a 3rd normal bed, they were not interested, instead they said that Hotels charged me for 3 single beds and that I should complain to them, because they don't have another room. The maximum unprofessionalism of the manager who says that I am breaking my back for 3 nights in a room that costs 431 euros for 3 days without breakfast. Overpriced for the overall service, location and facilities, which are not there as if you were in a one-star hotel.

Old run down hotel with poor service
Booked a few days before the stay, and choose the hotel because they have a pool, which my two sons love. Further, the holel claimed to have free parking. When we arrived, the person in the hotel could not speak English, the pool was closed (they just forgot to inform us) and there was no parking available, other than in the hotel's basement which I had to pay for. Really bad service, and really bad handling of guests by the hotel staff. I would not recommend it to anyone!

Lovely hotel, clean and friendly staff.
The staff at reception are very friendly and helpful, it's a really well laid out and large hotel with lovely well appointed, clean rooms. The only slight niggle (and this has happened a couple of times in Holiday Inns) is that despite checking out in the morning, a cleaner knocked on the door trying to clean. This doesn't make any sense given it was our last day and the front desk would know if we had checked out or not. Please Holiday Inn - resolve this comms issue. In the meantime if you are staying, remember the Do Not Disturb sign!

As I booked the hotel based on a colleague's recommendation and found out that by chance a wrong address was given. So in fact I & another colleague went to another Holiday Inn (which is the one that originally should be recommended) to check in and that is more in the city centre, but was told by the staff that they cannot find our booking because we booked a different location. Due to the strike on the road, taxi driver was not willing to drive us to this hotel, so at the end it took us ages to get to the hotel. The hotel is in a residential area and I would say it's better if you have a car to move around. The hotel structure is a bit weird because the lifts to the rooms are very far away from the reception area, looks like walking to another building. I booked a standard room, but I was quite disappointed because the room was not like what I expect and it was a bit dark and what I don't like most is the bathroom as it was very small which only got a curtain around the shower area. The shampoo and body wash are all in one which the quality was so so. Looking at the other reviews, I believe maybe other room type is better or they have some other renovated rooms. Overall the room was just okay, the staff were nice and helpful, but it was just a bit disappointing.

Usually our hotel is easily reachable by public transport. About 300 meters from the hotel there are several bus lines to the main station. It takes about ten minutes by car from here to the centre of the city. We are sorry that you had to face inconveniences because of the location and the misunderstanding regarding the hotel address. Holiday Inn Hamburg
We stayed at the Holiday Inn for 2 nights to explore the city. It is located in a quiet residential area and not as central as I had thought when we booked, about a 15-minute walk from the nearest station. There is not much on the doorstep in terms of shops or restaurants. The hotel is a little dated, but the rooms were clean and comfortable, and surprisingly quiet given their proximity to a busy highway. We also had views of the harbour which was nice. Staff were very helpful. The only downside was breakfast, which was slightly chaotic - we hadn't booked, and although the staff were happy to take 20 Euros a head and wave us in, there weren't any free tables on either morning. We probably wouldn't choose to stay there again as a more central location would suit us better.

It is very clean, staff are well-trained and pleasant, it backs onto a pleasant neighbourhood with good restaurants and a small corner shop. The downside is that one part of the hotel backs onto a busy motorway type road.

Our hotel is easily reachable by public transport. About 300 meters from the hotel there are several bus lines to the main station.
