We wanted a less crowded beach area, and we had it all to ourselves. The boardwalk is great! The kitchen is well stocked. The covered and open decks are really nice to use. We caught a variety of fish for dinner right from shore. The drive is quick and easy to groceries, restaurants and shopping, yet the house is just past the more commercial or congested area. There were a few minor things that I will list but not a deal breaker that we won’t stay here again! There were limited towels/washcloths in the bathrooms/kitchen. There were no extra garbage bags and limited supply of dishwasher/laundry tablets. Next time, we will bring extra. The carpet in the bedrooms do need to be replaced or cleaned really well. All of the bedrooms were listed as king beds but one of the upstairs bedrooms was definitely not a king. The things we loved was the spaciousness of the home, the view, and the beach privacy. Its best feature is the dune walkover, where you can sit and drink your morning tea right on the edge of the waves. The upper and lower decks afford great views of the ocean. Inside, the furnishings are nice. The layout of the home is spacious and convenient, with a full kitchen and every bedroom having a dedicated bathroom. The only drawback is that the only source for tv viewing is streaming, and with the current internet data speed, it would be challenging to stream on more than one device at a time. All in all Mar Tortuga is our favorite home in Gulf Shores and we have already reserved another stay. ##### Peter P. When we checked in though there were probably 40 dead flies in the windowsill in the downstairs bedroom. I cleaned it! Air vent at the top of the stairs was extremely dirty with probably a half an inch of dust on it. I sent pictures to vacasa with no response. TV did not work in the downstairs bedroom at all. Coffee maker broke( the warmer plate stopped working) so we went out and bought a new coffee maker for the property, messaged Vacasa 3 or 4 times with no response. The local Vacasa has not responded to any of our messages, they have not done anything to make this right. Very disappointed after reading the great reviews!
