Stay. Enjoy, in this beautiful condo, "The Sweetness of Doing Nothing." Il Dolce Far Niente (Italian for "The Sweetness of Doing Nothing") is an upscale condo in the beautiful Lighthouse community. It has a big, well-equipped kitchen, 4 HD TV's, 3 DVD players, elegant furnishings, premium linens, floor to ceiling glass doors that open onto the lovely, big balcony which overlooks the gorgeous Gulf, two king size beds, 2 twin beds in an extra bunk room, a queen size sleeper sofa, and a master suite with an oversize Jacuzzi bathtub and an ocean view. There is also a Pack n'Play crib with mattress and sheets available for our guests with toddlers. The complex offers two big, sculptural pools with fountains and palm trees, (one of them is a zero entry pool, which is especially nice for children), a heated indoor pool, two hot tubs, a fitness room and a sauna, all either on the beach, or with a beach view. Except the sauna of course! There is also a large DVD library, and a selection of board games for you, your family, and your guests to enjoy. The Lighthouse is close to everything. At Il Dolce Far Niente, you have the best of both worlds: seclusion when you want it, and proximity to the Oyster Festival, the Shrimp Festival, the Hangout, Sea & Suds, the city pier, the annual Christmas boat parade (right off the balcony), every kind of seafood you ever wanted to try, wonderful local restaurants, and to everything else that everybody loves about Gulf Shores, when you want that. On the 14th floor, you are close enough to hear the delightful hustle and bustle of the beach community, but high enough that it's not intrusive, but summery and cheerful, even in the wintertime. And the views are nothing short of spectacular. Fourteen floors up, they're also breathtaking. Look to the east and the west, and the beach seems infinite. Look straight ahead, and the view is so endless, and so unobstructed that you can actually see the curvature of the earth. You can watch the dolphins play, and cheer for the pelicans when they sail by the balcony, always in formation, several times a day. On a clear night, the stars are so bright, and so close you can almost touch them. This is not just 5-star accommodations for a family vacation, or a personal getaway. This is a place to renew your soul. We've gone to a lot of trouble to make this beautiful condo welcoming and comfortable for you. The condo was very clean and we so enjoyed the stay. The kitchen was equipped with items to be able to wash dishes and the bathrooms were equiped with soap, shampoo and conditioner. Everything was explained by the owners and even had suggestions on what to do in the area. They had games, books, beach chairs and a wagon to take items to the beach. The condo itself is very comfortable, including beds, couches, and balcony furniture. There are plenty of dishes for eating and family style lunches & dinners. They provide toys, chairs, and a cooler for the beach so if you prefer not to rent chairs, it saves you the cost. Facilities in the condo are convenient, and accessible, especially for families. Ray is super responsive, has a great sense of humor, and is as warm as they strive for their condo to be. I have been vacationing in Gulf Shores for over 25 years and can say without reservation that this condo is the best maintained I’ve stayed in. It is exceptionally clean with a well stocked kitchen. The beds are very comfortable, the furniture in good condition and the owner easy to communicate with. The balcony has plenty of seating and there are beach chairs and toys available for guest use. I wish I would've read the details of the listing. There was SO much offered by Mr. Ray's condo. We wouldn't have had to pack as much stuff if I would have read. They literally had everything you need for the beach which was SOO nice! Condo is well appointed with essentials,: pillows, blankets, CD collection (wow) bath towels. (bring your own beach towels- we did not gulf swim- water temp was about 60 degrees) During our stay we hopped over to the Bellingrath Gardens, Dauphin Island by the Morgan Ferry, and the historic Grand Hotel in Fairhope.(yummy restaurant-meaning good salad). The hot tubs were very enjoyable after the sun set. In the late afternoon cranes pestered the fishermen on the beach - which was fun, since we were not fishing. For healthy eating, plan to utilize the kitchen. Gulf SHores restaurants Are heavy on the fried everything and have not seen a vegetable other than potatoes and southern green beans. Extras such as the beach umbrella, chairs and toys were a plus. You truly only need to pack your swimsuit and beach towel everything else is here. This was our first trip to Gulf Shores and we had a wonderful time! The condo is clean, spacious, and comfortable and the views are fantastic. It’s obvious from the many extra touches in the condo (games, beach toys, books, movies, and more) that owners Ray and Karen care about their guests. This was mine and my families first time to Gulf Shores but definitely not the last. The Copeland’s made sure we were well equipped with all the tips and recommendations on how to make our trip fun for everyone. They truly went above and beyond. The condo was clean and decorated beautifully. The kids loved the pirates chest and played with the toys often during our stay. The adults loved that the kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans, blender, etc. There was also a cooler, canopy, beach chairs, beach toys, etc. The room on the 14th floor is perfectly located to have the best view of Gulf Shores possible.
