The hotel is secluded which is great but also requires for transportation to anything outside the hotel. If you want to eat in a local restaurant rather than the hotel it's a 30 min Car Ride away. As long as that is acceptable to you no issue but if you like to go outside the hotel from time to time this can be an issue. There is nothing around the hotel area that can be deemed as acceptable, at least not what we have been able to check out.

A stunning resort. The Ocean view room was perfect, private and quiet. There are several pools, each with its own charms. The beach and sea swimming are not the best, but I did see some people swimming and snorkeling. The best things about this resort are the location and, most important, the people who work there. Friendly and kind - I was very impressed with the dining room staff, in particular. But everyone I encountered was professional, helpful, and pleasant. As others have said, there’s not a lot nearby the resort but it is very self-contained. I was solo and enjoyed four days of pure peace and down time. I will say that the Thai food on offer in the all-day dining room was uninspired and somewhat expensive after Bangkok. But that is my only criticism.

lovely position with great staff.
we had a pleasant stay an the Intercontinental. the staff are excellent and friendly. food was also very good. our only real issue was the room size of our classic room ocean view. its promoted as being 760 sq feet but when we got there we were shocked how small it was. thats because they fail to mention that 1/3rd of the floor area is a terrace which really cant be used for most of the day as it gets full sun and no shade. the room is more 500 sq feet with very little wardrobe space as they had to set up clothes racks for us.

Very secluded and very expensive
Resort is located on secluded beach, the good of which is privacy and the bad is that hotel is severely over-priced (with no alternatives to buy anything). Expect New York City prices, drinks at $15 each (never a happy hour), meals at $30 per person. Also, the resort requires vigorous exercise, with 300 stairs up front the beach to the top of the resort. Good news is that the resort is Covid-careful, well run in that important respect. ps: We paid $900 nightly for two-bedroom family villa. A walk down the beach revealed at small resort with similar rooms at a tiny fraction of that price.

Isolated Sanctuary
Amazing location and service. Extremely isolated from the hustle and bustle of Thailand which makes it ideal for a family holiday. We were there during Covid 19 virus so it was very quiet so did lack some 'atmosphere' but still very peaceful.

Perfect stay!
Perfect stay! The best staff in Koh Samui! We visit for our honeymoon trip and it was perfect. We got the club membership and it was the best decision, great drinks and amazing breakfast. The views of the hotel are amazing!

Excellent property with very friendly and attentive staff. We stayed in a 2 bed club villa and made full use of the facilities - including the Lounge, the restaurants, various pools, the Spa and also hired the speedboat for half a day.

Overall speaking this is a very pleasant journey. We stayed at a two bedroom villa, kids love the spacious room. We have enjoyed two in villa dining. Kids love the kids club sooo much, the activities there kept them busy and indulge with fun. The really down side was the last two days during our stay, the hotel hosted an activity with a private function ( some sort of fashion show). We were bar to access to some areas, those VIPs are treated differently, they are the VIPs and other guests become minority. We were unable to call buggies or it took us much time, this made it didn’t want to leave the room as we afraid we needed to wait for a long time for buggy. The loud music at night woke us up. We were unable to have lunch at the main restaurant on one day. Though the duty manager has tried her best to explain and gave us a bottle of free wine as a token of our inconvenience. I guess next time the hotel should consider to shut down the hotel for guest when they hold function. I might hesitate to come back again due to this experience.

The hotel is beautiful and the service is perfect. However, it is a bit isolated from almost everything so you need a car or a scooter to get in touch with the real Koh Samui and locals. Prices for restaurants and bars at the hotel as well as all non-complementary activities are just too expansive (they charge London prices) therefore you feel a bit trapped given the isolation of the hotel.

Nice hotel - expensive food
Amazing views and nice facilities for a relaxing break. Food in the restaurant was good but very very expensive - no other real alternatives close by. Adults only pool being used by children a lot of the time. Friendly staff.

5 star resort with killer views
The resort is on a beautiful piece of land over looking the whole hillside into their private beach. Although, you technically can't just run into the water from the beach, due to the rocks, they have a long dock 100yrds (prob the size of a football field) that goes far enough to the point where you can swim. It seems like every room on the property had a killer view. The only downside would be the location. It is far away from all the bars and clubs. I would recommend this place for people that want to relax with their significant other or family members. If you were there with some friends to hang out and party from time to time, I would not recommend this hotel due to the location. Otherwise, this hotel is killer!!!!!

A great getaway and a great resort!
We stayed at the Intercontinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort from 30 November to 4 December and enjoyed it thoroughly. The hotel grounds are sprawling and yet, remains quite private. The rooms are in great condition notwithstanding that they look a bit aged. Service-wise, the hotel is top notch. The staff were always polite, helpful and gracious, and did whatever they could to attend to our needs (we were there with our 5 year old son who enjoyed the attention). The hotel beach is clean and well-kept (and private too!). At this time of the year, the water was clear though not was warm as we'd have liked but swimming in the ocean was not an issue at all. Food-wise, the hotel has got good offerings from Amber & Flames, both offering great food options (local to International). The Air Bar is also a must-see especially for its glorious sunset views, and its cocktails and canapes. There are also great alternatives from nearby restaurants like Island View (this one is fantastic!) and I-Talay both of which are more affordable and can provide transport to and from the hotel (not to mention food delivery services!). Overall, this is a great resort. I recommend considering Club privileges too since they made a huge difference for our stay.

I booked the Beachfront Pool Villa, it was amazing, I strongly recommend you spend the extra money to get this room. For the nice view, and location (Near the main pool and the beach and restaurant.) Tried the Spa in the hotel too was perfect! The hotel overal had everything you need with quality. Location wise is far from the main crowd in Chaweng Beach (around 30 min by car) recommend you rent a car with a driver that costed me 4000 bahts from mid-day to 10pm.

Don't stay here, it will ruin every other hotel
Heaven on Earth. We went to the W in Bophut after, and that really seemed pretentious/hipster compared to the IC. Great service, amenities, design, and location. Wish we could go back, but IC location/property I've ever been on.
