A magical sight! Pink waters and blue sky, It was like sunset reversed; a feast for eyes! There are plenty of colorful salt lakes near Las Coloradas/Rio Lagartos in the Yucatan peninsula. It is just 2 hours drive away from Chichén Itzá and around 3 hours from Cancun. Public transport is scarce in this part of Mexico. We took a rental car and it was an easy and comfortable journey for us :) Once we reached Las Coloradas, we were welcomed by giant white salt mountains. What lacked was the food quality. We had high expectations our first night going into their Mexican restaurant because we were in Mexico, the food was terrible. The tortillas were stale, the avocado placed on top of the tacos had a brown layer due to it sitting out too long. The birria was over cooked and chewy. The buffet that they have available for breakfast and lunch was horrible as well. The only place In the resort that was decent was the steakhouse that’s only open during dinner. We were really disappointed in investing our money to an all inclusive with horrible food. We definitely won’t be staying here again. The Expedia check-in process was very quick and organized. We enjoyed the wonderful pools and all of the daily activities and the poolside special lunch themes. We ate in all 3 of the restaurants and we liked Zai and Don Gus. We did not enjoy Marco Polo as much, the menu was limited and the portions were small. A big shout out to the great pool-side bartenders (Nelson+Alfredo)! The nightly planned entertainment was very good also. We had a small issue with our A/C being too cold but they came up and fixed it. After 9pm there is nowhere to go to get a light snack everything is closed. They should serve some small snacks in the lobby bar since it is open until midnight and people are drinking and socializing. Overall we had a great stay here and I would recommend this resort."
