A magical sight! Pink waters and blue sky, It was like sunset reversed; a feast for eyes! There are plenty of colorful salt lakes near Las Coloradas/Rio Lagartos in the Yucatan peninsula. It is just 2 hours drive away from Chichén Itzá and around 3 hours from Cancun. Public transport is scarce in this part of Mexico. We took a rental car and it was an easy and comfortable journey for us :) Once we reached Las Coloradas, we were welcomed by giant white salt mountains. The wildlife here is amazing including monkeys, coatis, capybaras, iguanas, raccoons, a crocodile, deer and a couple of cats. The food was really good at all the restaurants and the buffet. They have a juice bar near the beach pool which makes fresh juice everyday. Mike’s coffeehouse has the best cafe options including cappuccinos, lattes (both cold and hot), teas and delicious desserts. We literally went there everyday some times twice a day it was soo good. We found the nightlife was a bit of a disappointment with everything wrapping up by around 10:30 -11:00pm. The rooms are very clean and the cleaning staff work very hard to keep everything clean. The one thing I wasn’t a fan of was the design of the bathroom. The shower and toilet are separated but there is no real privacy when using the toilet. Also, the bathtub in our room had rust and didn’t really work but that was fine as we just used the shower everyday which always had steaming hot water and the water pressure was good. The bed was comfortable and there’s was a lot of room in our room. Our minifridge was restocked everyday and we had asked for extra water and they always gave it to us. The drinks at the swim up bars were really good and all the bar tenders were nice and friendly. I would definitely go back to this resort.
