Property is beautiful and service is great. The hotel is a little isolated so there’s not much u can do walking distance. Transportation anywhere is expensive. Food was good always variety at buffets but snack area is not good there is not a lot of vegetarian options during this time.

This is a motel 6 with all inclusive dining. Make no doubts about it. This place is not suitable to be a part of the Riu brand. Rooms old, most staff unfriendly, resort is poorly lit at night with limited fans in the common areas. Avoid if possible.

So disappointed with my experience with this hotel. We had a 3 night reservation, and the hotel was so bad that we checked in, experienced the room and one of the restaurants, and decided we didn’t feel comfortable or safe staying there. We actually ended up booking a different hotel and checked out of the hotel 2 hours after checking in. Would NOT recommend it.

The hotel is not for couples, the internet service is terrible, you would lose connection walking from your room to the lobby. The doors still used keys with room # on it. The elevators were old and slow . with a max of 5 people. Overall I stayed at the RIUs before this one was the worse. The staff for the most part was exceptional. the food was decent.

Love the resort, especially the pool areas. Very kid friendly, lots of activities and the walking distance to the beach! Also the staff was very friendly, prompt and great service! It’s an old property and needs minor updates. Some of the outlets in the property needed to be upgraded. As the plugs wouldn’t stay in the outlets, but that’s pretty minor. Another item was that some elderly people might have problems entering the bathtub as the bathtub height getting in and out was kind of a scary. The staff was really great. The drinks were good and the food was excellent.

The beds and pillows were the hardest i ever slept on, so uncomfortable. There is no ATM machine on site, and the closest one is half hour away. Also food was bland, except the italian restaurant and the drinks/liquor are very watered down. Our safe in our room kept malfunctioning and we would have to wait for staff and then maintenance to fix it. Unfortunately we were not impressed, and would not stay again.

I would like to add that while we stayed we noticed that most people did not tip the servers & staff and note to people who choose to stay there know that tips are not included in your " All Inclusive". The hotel rooms are outdated. The first room we checked into had no water pressure and air conditioner barely worked. We were able to change to a different room but there was a smell of sewer in one of our bathrooms (our room had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms). There are 3 specialty restaurants and 2 buffets, and one of the buffets turns to a steakhouse for dinner. There was a lot of food but it was average and greasy. Staff was nice. The beach is underdeveloped with very old and broken beach chairs. I will not be coming back to Riu Guanacaste.

Such a wonderful experience. Riu Guanacaste was the perfect place to stay. The food and drinks were great, shopping is nearby, and it is next door to Diamante Eco Park, which has an animal sanctuary and zip lines. The hotel had excellent entertainment as well. The pool was beautiful, and the private beach was lovely and quiet. It was a dream vacation!

There was extremely too many animals (wildlife) just wondering around freely and made people feel a bit scared and uncomfortable. There were stray cats, huge iguanas, and stray dogs everywhere; by the pools and the food areas which seemed a bit unclean and unsanitary. Other than the animals issue, the resort was great. Good afternoon on April 13 2024 at 534pm Costa Rica time I was assaulted,sexually harassed, humiliated and racially profiled at the pool by a group of family that was staying at the resort the staff didn’t step in or called security to stop their actions instead they watch and laugh . Thank fully others recorded it in 4k and showed the manager because he approach my boyfriend with force and threats demanding our room keys without hearing both sides of the stories and after seeing the video the manager alendro tries to be nice but I was embarrassed I still feel violated I haven’t slept in over 3 days because of what took place I’ve taken all the pictures of bruises on my body of how I was kicked in the pool the manager has a copy of the video and so do I, this atrocious assault cannot be swept under the rug something needs to be done and I need to speak to the president of this Riu guanaste establishment I have wrote them Over n over no reply at all!

If I could give this resort zero stars I would, from the moment we arrived this hospitality was horrible. Two thumbs down! We got to our room to be greeted by fresh blood on out comforter, semen on the towels in our supposed freshly cleaned bathroom, as well as makeup and semen smeared on the balcony doors. When attempting to call down, we discovered our phone didn’t work. They refused to change our room, and said they would have someone clean it when they could. After going and and forth and explaining how unsanitary this was, they sent someone to clean. Later that night our air conditioner went out in the room, we went down and when they sent someone up he showed us how extremely filthy the filter was. Day two, trying to forget the horrible day one our toilet broke, chain snapped right off. We had to wait for it to get fixed. Aside from no entertainment, and 1-3 hour waits for the speciality dinning, there was nothing at all to brag about at this resort. Staff is extremely rude and non accommodating, the food is mid, and no room service at all. They have one pool table, and you have to wait long periods of time to use it. The drinks are watered down, the elevators are slow and have no ac and if you’re hungry after 10pm good luck. There’s nothing to eat! So very disappointed.

The property is a little dated, and the pool always appeared to be dirty i.e drinks and drink garnish around the edge of the pool. bugs and leaves in the pool. filthy poolside chairs. The food is about a 6/10 across the board. However, the staff is great and the ambience is wonderful.

Costa Rica as a WHOLE is very plush and everywhere on the RIU property vs. outside heading toward excursions/airport is photo worthy.Things to be aware-There's only 1 bathroom area outside of the lobby and 1 swim up bar area. They have 3 bars & 2 bathroom on areas inside the main lobby area. Which drinks are now served until 10:00am so if you are at the pool earlier( I'm there by 6:00am lol) than you'll have to grab any type of beverage wether alcoholic or not at the 24hr sports bar before heading to the pool area. Definitely feel like they should serve breakfast in the Ocala restaurant besides the pool area with views of the beach or at least have a drink fountain machine available since there are no servers until 10:00/10:30. Also there were only 2-3 servers waiting poolside for the entire outside lounge areas which made the wait even longer.Besides those small things the servers/cleaners were AMAZING & nice and the property area was clean. Even the local sellers on the beach we're extremely nice

We can not express how amazing the staff and everyone there treated us. From the customer service (who saved our sanity when trying to navigate technology issues), to the waiter/waitress, bartenders, etc. they were all so kind, cheerful, and above all...welcoming! The beach was beautiful and not crowded at all. We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment shows.
