This might be one of our favorite places we've ever stayed. It was an adorable country inn-type of place but also kind of upscale. The rooms on the first floor are modern and have AC (and it actually worked!!) and a little patio. The breakfast buffet was incredible, best we've seen anywhere. Grödig is a sleepy little town, not much for dinner options, but it was worth staying there for this hotel. It's also a great location in terms of being between Salzburg and Berchtesgaden (each about 15-20 minutes away). Highly recommend.

Not a family hotel!
The hotel is beautiful and located within a 15 minute drive of Salzburg. But what ruined this hotel for us was the owner’s policy about charging extra for newborn children. After our first breakfast there, the owner approached us and asked to speak at the reception. He informed us that there would be an additional €25 euro per night charge to our room because we had a newborn with us. This naturally frustrated us, and he explained that it was his hotel’s policy to charge extra because ‘it requires more work’ for our child’s stay, and we needed to pay for a bed for each occupant in the room. We told him that our child would sleep beside us, and didn’t require any extra bed for their stay. He then began to tell stories of other guests bringing multiple teenage children with them to the hotel without paying for extra beds, which was quite disturbing to him. We continued to explain that our newborn wasn’t in need of an extra bed, bigger room, extra amenities or food during breakfast, but he continued to be inflexible with his attitude, which disappointed us more and more the longer the conversation continued. Yes, the hotel is beautiful, but I would never bring a family here again.

Normally no problem if we know before, we give you a more spacious room with an extra baby bed. We have a spezial price for babies, also for kids and teens. This was just an all around excellent stop outside of Salzburg. The village was one of the nicest I've seen in Europe. Don't miss the cemetery, it's beautiful.

We chose this hotel as a base camp for three days in the area. It is situated just south of Saltzburg, which gives one the means of exploring the city (via local bus #25) as well as points south of interest to us (Werfen, 23 miles away, and Hallstatt, 43 miles away). Checking in was a breeze, thanks to the friendly young woman at the front desk, who not only oriented us to Ty’s facility and gave us our keys but also walked us personally to our room (that was a first!). The facility itself is outstanding, built apparently with an eye to sparing no expense for producing a solid and beautiful structure. It is tastefully decorated throughout, giving it a very homey field. The breakfast room is among the most comfortable that I ever set in, outside its doors there being four more tables for use during nicer weather and a lovely landscaped garden. Two other points: the place has a working elevator, and the Wi-Fi is excellent! The rooms are large by European standards, and are well thought out, down to the detail of providing a pair of scissors on the wall which we used twice (thank you again!). Breakfast offered lots of choice of food items, as well as lots of lovely space in which to enjoy it. In short, if in the area again would we choose to stay here? Absolutely we would! It’s a four-star property in our opinion.

Beautiful quiet and clean property. Breakfast was great! Not many restaurants or much to do around its immediate location. It was conveniently located near a nice bike path, but the bikes they provided were somewhat in disrepair.

Amazing Hotel in Salzburg
Amazing hotel. A hidden gem in Salzburg. Everything was wonderful. The staff, the rooms, the views, the food, the location, the cleanliness, etc. Would highly recommend this hotel. Free parking is also available. The only thing we found strange was that the lobby/reception closes at 7pm until 7am the next day. So if you’re planning to check in after those hours keep that in mind. An iron and microwave would also have been nice in the room. But it was no big deal. The hotel is about a 15 minute drive to the city which was great because you’re not in the noisy hustle and bustle area, yet such a close drive away in calm, quiet and peaceful surroundings. We were a part of 6 and had 4 rooms. The rooms and bathrooms are new and huge and everything is very tastefully decorated. It was so nice to relax on the balcony after a day of sight seeing. Would definitely come back and stay at this hotel.

This hotel is about a 15 minute bus ride south of Salzburg. Reviewing this hotel from the perspective of being an American I would 100% stay here again. The room was clean and modern. The view from the balcony was beautiful. The breakfast was amazing. Plenty of parking in the lot. Half of the parking is protected with a roof. There is a mini fridge and safe in the room. The balcony door has a bug screen which is rare in Europe. The walk to the bus stop is 5 minutes. The bus ride to the center of Salzburg is about 15-20 minutes. Without a doubt I would stay here again.

If you are visiting Salzburg and driving, this is the perfect place to stay. Close enough to Salzburg to go into the city for concerts or to sight-see, but away from the hustle and bustle. Free parking. Great base to see Bertchesgaden, Hallstatt, or the Eagles Nest. Great staff. We loved it!

We liked this hotel so much we stayed an extra night ! Very clean, friendly staff and delicious breakfast. We sat out on the balcony in the evening enjoying the beautiful view with a glass of wine...so relaxing. We having been traveling for a week now and this has been the best stay!

Rooms were spacious and beautifully furnished; both rooms had balconies. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay there again. The town is conveniently a bit outside of Salzburg but has some good restaurants.

I liked that we could easily walk to the bus for Salzburg and walk around the village of Groedig. The breakfast was very nice with good coffee, overlooking the scenic grounds. The towels were stiff and scratchy and thin and need replacing and we could hear the baby crying next door and running around at 6:00 in the morning as well as a hair dryer and voices. No air conditioning, stuffy even with open window.

Wonderful hotel in idyllic location
The hotel stay was perfect. The town in the perfect location to see Eagle’s Nest or Salzburg and the hotel was idyllic. It was newly renovated, clean, quiet and had an extensive breakfast buffet. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel even emailed us and told us about needing a toll for our car so as to avoid a fine.

An overnight stay
We chose to stay at Hotel Sallerhof because it”s close location to Salzburg and Berchtesgarden, Germany. The hotel exceeded our expectations. Room is clean, parking was easy, the staffs were extremely nice. They suggested us to take bus nr. 25 to Salzburg due to the parking limitations in Salzburg. The bus rides were about 20 minuets and took you right to the old town. We would definitely stay here again.

A brilliant hotel, highly recommended
A really great find! If you want to visit Salzburg but also find time for other things such as cycling and walking in the beautiful hills and mountains, the little town of Grodig is a lovely place to do these things from, and the Hotel Sallerhof makes everything so easy. There is a frequent, clean and efficient bus service that runs into Salzberg and other locations from the bus stop a short distance from the hotel. You can hire bikes, get advice, maps and recommendations on cycle routes and walks, there are brilliant restaurants in the vicinity (would highly recommend Restaurant Sagenhoft). The owners of the hotel provide a relaxing, calm, peaceful hotel with beautiful views, a smashing breakfast and all with such lovely friendly and efficient service. The only reason we don't give them a full 5 marks overall is the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the lovely bedrooms! We like our morning cup of tea and to be able to relax in our room with a hot drink when we return from a day out. There are facilities downstairs in the foyer where you can get a variety of drinks from a machine that you pay for, and it is not expensive, but it is hassle and was a downside for us. Other than that, a brilliant hotel, and one we would highly recommend.

Hotel Sallerhof was one of the best places my daughter and I stayed during our 3 week trip through Europe. It is very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with a huge variety of items. The hotel itself is modern with a beautiful garden. If we are ever in this part of Austria again we plan on staying at the Hotel Sallerof! Wonderful place....

The hotel is very nice. It is in a great location, very peaceful and relaxing. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful when you had any questions.

Perfect place to stay near Salzburg
The hotel was great. Incredibly clean, quiet, excellent service. The breakfasts were incredible. Scenic bus ride into Salzburg. We bought the Salzburg pass and were able to do everything we wanted including several sites outside the city. We missed the cable ride up the mountain because of the weather, but it was covered by the pass. We ate at two very nice restaurants in Grodig.

I highly reccommend this hotel for anyone looking to visit Salzburg. It’s modern, picturesque, conveniently located and has excellent management. Comfortable beds, spacious bathroom, lovely new dining facility for breakfast just to name a few. Klauss and his staff were extremely helpful from the day I made the reservation until the day we left. He arranged local tours for us and transportation. We felt very safe in the area and found people to be very kind and helpful.

Frendly service, comfortable and clean rooms. As there is no bar in the hotel, could do with a fridge in the rooms atleast we can get drinks from local supermarkets and store them.

Lovely hotel in village near Salzburg
Very nice clean comfy hotel, superb breakfast! Hotel very clean! Grounds well maintained...close to bus stops for those who use public transportation...check in was smoothe...only wanting for more English tv!!(after full day of sight seeing nice to relax to native language!)

Lovely hotel in quiet area, very homey. Loved the covered parking. Bus close by, easy to get to Salzburg. No restuarant.
