A gorgeous hotel in a stunning setting

Posted 19-Aug-2015
Pros: The attentive, friendly staff; amazing food - Sunday Brunch a must; exceedingly comfortable beds; stunning harbour views across to Downtown Vancouver
Cons: DVD players in the rooms!
Location: It's in the middle of vibrant Granville Island. Go to Kitsilano beach, take an Aquabus to Downtown Vancouver for shopping/museums, go Dragon Boating!
Granville Island Hotel is my Vancouver hotel of choice at any time of the year: I love my wake-up and go-to-sleep view of the sea, the staff who remember my name - and my food preferences; the vibrancy of the setting on arts-capital Granville Island; I like having Downtown Vancouver on my doorstep by catching a cute Aquabus, while having a beach, or a kayak and boat rental just a stroll away, past a yummy fish-and-chip stall (if I can bear to pass all the other foodie-heaven venues); love walking just a bit further to Kitsilano Beach, or cycling the sea-wall right round to Stanley Park. Why anyone would want to go anywhere else beats me!

Peaceful oasis on Granville Island

Posted 3-Aug-2015
Pros: location and quality of hotel
Location: shopping, dining & entertainment
Lots to do on Granville Island - Public Marlet, restaurants, shops & entertainment. Hotel is away from hustle and bustle with great views of downtown Vancouver and False Creek.

Great location but not a great value

Posted 2-Aug-2015
Location: Tons of stuff nearby.
Some odd things about this place. The flickery fluorescent lighting in the bathroom, the failure of staff to fix a broken light on the vanity mirror. Quirky operation of the TV, just made it feel less than comfortable. They seemed a bit low on staff as well. Less than cooperative when we asked to change rooms because we didn't get a room with the two beds we asked for.

Great Views - Nice Bathroom

Posted 1-Aug-2015
Pros: View, bathroom, restaurant.
Cons: Size of room.
Location: Grandville Island is a great location.
Great views of the city skyline. Very nice bathroom. Location on Grandville Island is interesting and less congested than being downtown. The room was tight. It could have been about three feet wider and longer. There was no good place to put a second suitcase. Part of the hallway was very hot because of sun -- not a problem most of the year. The restaurant has a great view of the water. The hotel is right on a long bike/walking path to goes along the water.

Close to venue

Posted 27-Jul-2015
Pros: Everything to make a two night stay enjoyable
Cons: Hotel great, do something about all the tourists and their cars
Location: Shopping, eating, Bard on the Beach, and of course, the Saturday night fireworks
Within walking distance for all facilities required, great view, and great parking in a very busy place/ all services at the hotel were in great form as usual

Posted 24-Jul-2015
Pros: Patio and view into Coal Harbor
Location: Central location for lots of activities using public transportation to downtown, Kitsilano, UBC, van Dusen, Expo and Science World
Well situated hotel on the greatest spot in Vancouver, get breakfast at the waterfront and enjoy the scene, view from the patio of the GIH is magnificent, restaurant is pricy but worth the stay, book room with view to waterfront.

Excellent location on Granville Island.

Posted 23-Jul-2015
Pros: Location and service
Room was to small for the kingsized bed. Had to move the bed to open the mini fridge , couldn't access the balcony if somebody was sitting at the small desk. Also , very well appointed bathroom was to small for two adults turn around in.
