The older gentlemen made us feel like we were a burden and he didn’t want us there. Very unfriendly unlike anywhere else we have stayed. To be fair to him he was also rude to people at the bar so at least he was consistent. The property is under a slow renovation which itself is fine, however if you have vacant rooms (they did) why put us in a 1970 room at the back of the hotel. Did not walk barefoot on the carpet and used soap in the bathroom. We were only here for 1 night so it was ok. Hotel is not what we expected of a hotel that has just been recently refurbished. Rooms ok but housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. Towels not changed in 4 days and no refills of tea and milk, had to ask for milk still waiting for towels to be changed! Breakfast ok but had to ask for orange juice and hot water refills daily as no one is taking responsibility of the breakfast service. Seems to be a lack of staff as owner seems to be jack of all trades and master of none 😟. But the bathroom and bed were clean and it was well worth the £58 we paid. The bar was in need of some serious cheering up but the food was good value.
