We love staying on the Gunflint Trail and this cabin is in a secluded area (helps to have 4 wheel drive in the winter) with great access to local trails for hiking and snowshoeing. My wife and our two dogs spent a week here. We took day trips to hike, use the E-Bikes in Schroeder, and tour Grand Marais. The amenities were convenient and comfortable. This is a wonderful cabin with a gas fireplace, big kitchen, comfortable beds, and a huge whirlpool tub to soak in after hiking or snowshoeing. There are many trails within walking distance for skiing, snowshoeing, or hiking. There is a big backyard and a trail that overlooks Poplar Creek. It has direct access to snowshoe trails and the Banadad xc-ski trail that go into the Boundary Waters. The location midway up the Gunflint Trail is perfect for exploring lakes up or down the Trail and is also not far from good restaurants at Trail Center and Poplar Haus.
