Pros: Close to beach and water sports provided.
Location: Not a lot of things to do nearby, a bus or taxi to get into the little towns.
Hotel was being renovated but staff was great and our room was great, away from the noise and very comfortable for three. The food we had in the hotel was great and service could not have been better.

Beware!

Posted 24-Aug-2016
Pros: We USED to love the swim up bar, the beautiful pool area, the palm trees, the sidewalk café. We love the friendly staff. The spa USED to be amazing.
Cons: Close the hotel for renovations, and reopen once it's up to Westin standards!!!!!!!!!!!!
Location: We never used to leave the resort because there were a lot of things to do on property - sailing, snorkeling, paddle boarding, etc.
We've enjoyed our stay at this hotel many times, however, this wasn't one of them. We didn't find out until after we had gotten there that the hotel was basically under construction, and we felt it should have been closed for a renovation of this magnitude. We could tell it wasn't going to be a pleasant experience, so we changed hotels. It will be awesome ONCE IT'S FINISHED, and we'll go back then. I know that resorts have to renovate occasionally, and we love to stay in a nice, updated room, but when the renovation is that extensive, the hotel should be closed. Imagine having a good experience with this going on: the entire area behind the hotel was torn out, i.e. the pool, with their wonderful swim up bar, palm trees, sidewalk café, lounge chairs - everything was gone; there was earth moving equipment running below our balcony door; we could only access the beach from the opposite side of the property; a portion of the hotel rooms were blocked off, and not being sold; the reception area was in a tent on the front lawn. How could you, in good conscience, sell rooms to people under these conditions? You know they're not going to have an enjoyable time. We expected more from the Westin. We felt we had been tricked. When you go to a place like the Westin, you are paying for the experience, otherwise, you'd book a room at Motel 6 if you only wanted the basics. It left me with a really bad taste in my mouth for the Westin. We felt that we'd been taken advantage of,

Do not recommend

Under construction. The air conditioning in the room would never turn off and the shower would not drain even after I asked them to fix it. The maids were not very friendly and slow to clean the room.

Beautiful place 6 weeks ago but now during renovation should be closed. Cannot understand charging full price under these conditions at moment.

Perfect location

Posted 21-Aug-2016
The Westin was being remodeled which was an inconvenience but our stay was still great. The beach was beautiful and the water was calm in this spot. We visited other areas of the island but 7 mile beach was by far the best location. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Hopefully the rooms get a remodel as well.

Hotel is being renovated which made services somewhat inconvenient. We should have been informed about renovation before hand!

declining hotel

Posted 19-Aug-2016
Previously a nice hotel but has gone down. Staff is overwhelmed and treat guests as burdon. Hotel is under major construction which they were not up front about , terribly loud. Lobby is a tent out front , pool Closed , loud construction heard on beach. Front desk very rude to all customers present . Hotel room never Cleaned once in 5 days . I Did get extra towels and toiletries when I found housekeeping in hallway but never made it to clean / take away dirty towels. Sad , this was a nice hotel .

Family Vacation 2016

Posted 16-Aug-2016
Pros: Drinks were tasty, beds were very comfortable, balcony's nice, towels were soft, beach was amazing, water was beautiful, beach staff were friendly.
Cons: More shade for the beach, add beach volleyball section, friendly wait staff at Ferdinand's
Location: Chicken, Chicken! - wonderful restaurant with great prices, shrimp Tacos as Sunshine Grill, Luca wonderful Italian restaurant, Duke's BBQ a must
We knew in advance that the pool was going to be closed - but who goes to the Cayman Islands for a swimming pool - so we made the decision to continue with our trip as planned. There was a great attempt to make our stay as pleasurable as possible (complimentary drinks, free breakfast for everyone in our group the entire stay, free water sports, etc.). Beds were extremely comfortable, rooms were spacious, bath accessories were nice. Even the lizards and Iguana's were welcoming. What was disappointing was the we were not aware there was a major remodel planned for the summer of 2016 and the construction (jack-hammering for hours, bulldozers from sun up to sun down) made it difficult to relax while on the beach. A few of the staff in Ferdinand's restaurant we very unwelcoming and didn't seem to enjoy their job(s).
