Start your Grand Canyon experience at the North Rim Visitor Center. The center is a great place to plan your adventure and find information on Grand Canyon National Park. Organize a day hike on one of the North Rim’s many trails or attend a park ranger program to learn more about the region.

Take a short walk from the visitor center to the Grand Canyon Lodge’s patio. The patio features exceptional views and is a great place to relax and watch the sunset as it lights the walls of the canyon.

Drive to many of the canyon’s top observation points from the North Rim Visitor Center. Point Imperial, one of the Grand Canyon’s highest overlooks, is only a short drive away. The lookout gives access to the Point Imperial Hiking Trail, a popular walking path. Cape Royal, another great overlook, is also a short drive from the visitor center.

The visitor center is a useful place to organize hiking trips, a popular North Rim activity. Ken Patrick Trail and North Kaibab Trail feature exceptional views of the canyon’s beautiful sandstone landscape. Pack extra water, as summer days have very high temperatures. The National Park Service also recommends wearing suitable hiking footwear and comfortable clothing.

Be advised that the North Rim is a seasonal area of the Grand Canyon. Lodging, camping and visitor services are open mid-May to mid-October each year. Book North Rim accommodations a few months in advance, as reservations generally fill quickly.

Start your Grand Canyon experience at the North Rim Visitor Center to familiarize yourself with the region.
