Carris is one of the best small hotels I have stayed. It is located in a nice area of George Town with easy access to several food joints and restaurants. It is the host Gilbert’s hospitality and guest service which makes this place so special. He lives in the same property and is always available. He personally took me to do my essential shopping on arrival and made me feel at home. He was there to help with everything I needed My five nights stay in Carris felt like I am visiting a long lost friend’s home rather than a hotel. The facilities are very good. There may other accommodations with five star ratings for amenities, but it is rare to find a five star host like Gilbert.

5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stayed: July 4–6, 2025 I recently stayed at Grand Coastal Hotel from July 4th to 6th and had a fantastic experience. I booked the stay for myself and my sister, and we were both extremely pleased with the service and hospitality we received. A special thank you to Romel, one of the staff members who truly made our stay memorable. He was not only kind and professional but also went the extra mile by driving us around and helping us get familiar with the area. His genuine care and friendly personality really stood out. It’s rare to meet someone so dedicated and thoughtful. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and well-managed. From check-in to check-out, everything was smooth and pleasant. I would absolutely recommend Grand Coastal Hotel and would gladly stay here again in the future. Thanks again to the wonderful staff—especially Romel—for making our trip so enjoyable.

Several weaknesses prevent an excellent review. Staff understanding of processes and procedures related to the restaurant are inconsistent. Sometimes they insist that you sign for your free breakfast and sometimes they don’t. This is complicated by the fact that the waiters often disappeared after initial service. Additionally, room doors were difficult to open and often took several tries. Hotel staff explained the locks were new, but forced guests to deal with the problem.

It was convenient and the accommodation was excellent.

Hotel is a little dated but perfect if you don’t want to break the bank and stay in a clean place. They were nice enough to let me keep my bags with them while I went on a tour.
