Hard to find

Posted 25-Jun-2017
This hotel is hard to locate, you can hear everything through walls, and there is no elevator and you walk up a full story just to get to the lobby

Charming hotel

Posted 8-Jun-2017
Brandwood was perfect for our visit. Convenient to places we needed to be and the choices of restaurants and stores were wonderful! It would have been helpful, however, to know that this is a "walk-up" hotel with no elevator access and a steep flight of many steps.

Not Modern but had Character

Posted 8-Jun-2017
The stay was enjoyable as the location in Glendale was quite convenient. The hotel is comfortable but one important caveat is the lack of an elevator. Of course, this means climbing a fair amount of stairs with your luggage.

Charming!

Important to note that there are lots of stairs, no ground floor rooms, and no elevator. If I'd had a health issue, this wouldn't have been the best place. Other than that - loved it. Great location.

5 Star Hotel except for the Stairs

Posted 2-Jun-2017
Pros: Comfortable, remodeled in an era from decades before - very sweet.
Cons: Elevator!
Location: Lots of restaurants nearby. I was just passing through.
The stairs are a real pain. They are long and steep. That being said, when my mom and I walked in the front door around 11 pm and young man suddenly appeared bounding down the stairs, very friendly, and happily took up our bags and headed up with them for us. This was wonderful! However, climbing them was tiring especially for my mom who is somewhat ill and very tired after a long day of travel. The hallway at night looked a little dingy, but then by day I realized that it is just the angle of the lighting at night showing old drywall work and dents in the walls, etc. Totally not noticeable in the day time. The reception area is of an older era, very nicely redone. The room was gorgeous, a little small compared to more modern rooms, but very clean, beds very comfy, bathroom a nice size and all re-done in the old style of a bygone era. Very nice. The parking is an adventure. There is a garage behind the Bank of America that is next to the hotel. Guests park on the 2nd floor of the BofA garage. Not the easiest to find the entrance to the garage for some reason, but it's all an adventure and not difficult. I'd stay again, except I thought the price a little steep considering the stairs and inconvenient parking. The friendliness of the staff makes me rethink that comment and say I'd stay again. I should note that when we checked out, staff came to help us carry our bags down the stairs, etc.

Nice, located on trendy blvd

Posted 28-May-2017
Good if you are bodily angled and don't have knee issues. Right through the front door is a set of steep stairs and by the time you get to the counter, count on being winded from the unexpected hike. If they book you on the floor above, then you have to haul your luggage up another flight of stairs. The rooms are very small but neat. And if you get there while the hotel staff is on the phone booking a another customer, they will make you wait throughout the entire phone call before helping.

Nostalgic but no elevator

Posted 22-May-2017
Pros: Nostalgic building.
Cons: Elevator, air conditioner that cooled better.
Location: Lots of eating places. I was there for a seminar so didn't explore.
Very cool old building. Rooms are up to date. I had trouble getting the room cooled down with air conditioner and the bath tub didn't have skid resistant treads. I have back, neck, asthma, and hand issues. The young man when I checked in didn't offer help with my bags and there is no elevator. I struggled to get my bags to the second floor and up the very steep stairs. The desk person in the morning did offer help, however I had already taken them down to my car. Very clean and quiet. Not sure I'll go again. Too much of a struggle with my disabilities, maybe if I were younger.

Nice location. No elevator

Posted 19-May-2017
Nice location in downtown Glendale right in the shopping and eating region! The room was great! And cool artwork! Be prepared for stairs, though. One flight down from free parking then one or two up to the rooms. All the inconveniences of Europe right in Southern California.

Very nice boutique hotel

Posted 16-May-2017
This is a really nice hotel. Great location, nice staff, classic yet clean and updated room. One little problem is the room is a little bit small. My only real complain is that there's no elevator.
