5 Star Hotel except for the Stairs
The stairs are a real pain. They are long and steep.
That being said, when my mom and I walked in the front door around 11 pm and young man suddenly appeared bounding down the stairs, very friendly, and happily took up our bags and headed up with them for us. This was wonderful! However, climbing them was tiring especially for my mom who is somewhat ill and very tired after a long day of travel.
The hallway at night looked a little dingy, but then by day I realized that it is just the angle of the lighting at night showing old drywall work and dents in the walls, etc. Totally not noticeable in the day time. The reception area is of an older era, very nicely redone. The room was gorgeous, a little small compared to more modern rooms, but very clean, beds very comfy, bathroom a nice size and all re-done in the old style of a bygone era. Very nice. The parking is an adventure. There is a garage behind the Bank of America that is next to the hotel. Guests park on the 2nd floor of the BofA garage. Not the easiest to find the entrance to the garage for some reason, but it's all an adventure and not difficult.
I'd stay again, except I thought the price a little steep considering the stairs and inconvenient parking. The friendliness of the staff makes me rethink that comment and say I'd stay again. I should note that when we checked out, staff came to help us carry our bags down the stairs, etc.
