Welcome to Glasgow’s Candee Shack! Close to downtown and 20 minutes from Fort Peck. This is our vacation home that we share when we are not in town. This home is quirky and floors are creaky, but it’s very comfortable and charming.
This listing is for one bedroom on the main floor of the two-story house. The second floor is not accessible to guests without special arrangements ahead of time. It is an older home with all of the living basics and includes lots of parking and potential add-on of the garage.
NOTES PLEASE READ IMPORTANT FYIs: This listing is for the main floor of the house only, though you will have the entire house to yourself. The second floor is not accessible to guests without special arrangements ahead of time and only under special circumstances. The fireplace is currently inoperable.
We try to keep it affordable and provide the basics to keep you comfortable, but nothing really fancy here.
We do use some scented products in cleaning and laundry and don’t have the ability to be scent free at this time.
Currently, there are portable air-conditioning units available for hotter weather. There is not AC until later this year and no dishwasher. The train can be heard from the bedroom, but less if the fan is on. It doesn’t wake us, but thought we should mention it in case you’re a light sleeper.
The bathtub is deep and may not be ideal if you have mobility issues. There is a grab bar in there.
It’s an old quirky house with solid wood drawers in the kitchen that don’t always slide the easiest, the floors creak and the bedroom door “sticks” at the top (it’s on the to-do list!). Also, the pots and pans are heavy duty and heavier than many others.
Like I said, it’s our second home and we don’t mind the quirks but want to be sure you know what to expect if you book with us.
There may also be items that belong to us in areas of the home like extra paint in a closet, tools, etc. We also have some personal effects in the garage, but if you add on the garage there’s plenty of space.
We may be able to accommodate a higher occupancy, please ask if needed.
SPACES:
Living room contains a smaller comfortable couch, two ottomans, a recliner, board games, TV with ROKU and a nice nook space with two futons and a bistro table. Some kids toys are available as well. During warmer months there will be a portable AC unit in the nook space as well but the home does not currently have central air. Expected to have a mini split before the end of 2025.
The table in the dining space has four wooden chairs.
The full kitchen also contains a microwave and a Keurig that I leave pods for. Again, it’s worth mentioning there is no dishwasher, the pots and pans are on the heavy side, and the drawers are solid wood and can sometimes need a little extra tug to get open. There are cleaning supplies located under the sink if you need them and there is a dish rack and plenty of kitchen towels in the drawer. There are plastic as well as ceramic dishes, glasses, coffee mugs and sometimes paper dishes as well. There is silverware, cooking utensils, salt and pepper, and other kitchen basics available to you. There is an under the counter cutting board just to the right of the sink.
Through the kitchen is the laundry room. There is also a side exit here that uses the same key as the front door. There are some extra chairs hanging on the wall if needed and a matching small round table. These can be used inside or outside. I will leave a few detergent pods for you, depending on your length of stay. Please make sure you have one to start a load of towels when you check out.
The bedroom contains a comfortable (high) queen bed and small desk station. There is a laundry hamper you may use as well as hangers in the closet. There are USB plugs next to the bed for charging convenience.
The bathroom has a tub and shower with detachable handle. The shower wall has a grab bar because the tub is quite deep, and may not be ideal if you experience mobility issues. Several extra towels are available for your use.
