Try this condo in our off season (spring - fall) and enjoy a quiet place when your not out exploring WV. In winter, ski in and out from this condo onto the slopes of Winterplace Ski Resort. This condo is located on the third floor and the deck overlooks the 'Last Chance' and 'Last Run' trails. It is also close to Beckley and Princeton, Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve and southern WV whitewater country. During the ski season, we offer discounted equipment rentals from Ski Celebrations for all of our guests and for groups of 15 or more discounted lift tickets as well. The condo sleeps up to 10, great for a large family or a couple of small families with separate bathrooms or for those that just want some space and privacy that you can't get in a hotel. Extra-large deck to enjoy the views from. NOTE: We have several properties here at Winterplace and would be happy to help you find one that might work for you if this one is unavailable for the dates you are needing. The living room consists of an electric fireplace and a view out the sliding glass doors onto the slopes. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a bath and views onto the mountains. Everything you need to create great family memories! The condo has electric baseboard heaters in each room, so you can adjust the heat to the temperature that you prefer when it's cold outside. When it's hot, there is an AC unit installed in the living room above the couch. This is for AC only. We are not allowed to do duct work in the 2nd or 3rd floor condos, so this is the only practical way to get AC in the unit, leaving room doors open as often as possible helps to keep the whole condo cool. Please be aware when you book on our website or VRBO there will be a $200 security deposit that will be pre-authorized on your credit card the day before you arrive and is released 7 days after you depart unless there is damage. This is a standard practice for vacation home rentals as there is no staff at the facility and this allows you to check in with an electronic door code and check out by just texting us and leaving the morning of your last day. Also, the road to the condos is a gravel, hilly, road that is maintained by Winterplace Ski Resort. Low clearance vehicles will need to be careful coming up the hill from Winterplace Ski Resort's main parking area. In the winter, they grade the road and keep it plowed and put cinders on the road but please be prepared and understand you may need a four wheel drive, all wheel drive or chains to help get up the hill. We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. Problems can arise in multiple ways and travel insurance can be a low cost guard against losing your money if you have last minute problems and have to cancel. In the past, some of our guests have obtained insurance by going to www.InsureMyTrip.com for details and to purchase. We did call the people at InsuraneMyTrip and they do have plans that will cover for Covid issues but there are several important steps and needs to be done shortly after making your first deposit. The plans are called "Cancel For Any Reason" CFAR. Check with your insurance agent before deciding what insurance to purchase. We DO NOT endorse any insurance in particular. \~Long Term Stays \~ For those looking to stay for more than a week, the following changes apply: \- We only allow 3 people to stay per condo \- No pets allowed \- We do not provide daily maid service but will provide clean linens weekly. Please contact us for further information. WINTERPLACE SKI-IN SKI-OUT CONDOS Enjoy skiing or snowboarding right outside your door while staying on the slopes at Winterplace Resort. Easy access to all the runs. Our condos are located on the top (3rd) floor with great views. Winterplace also offers snow-tubing runs and a snowboard terrain park. Winterplace Resort is conveniently located only 5 minutes from I-77 at the Ghent exit. NEAR BECKLEY AND WHITEWATER COUNTRY During the spring, summer and fall don’t think there is nothing to do. We are close to all the fun that southern West Virginia has to offer. Whitewater rafting, kayaking, river tubing, rock climbing, hiking, horseback riding etc. All different kinds of outdoor fun are waiting for you to take advantage of. There are several state and national parks close by, like Little Beaver State Park and Grandview National Park We are also near Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve. The temperature in the mountains of West Virginia remains cooler than a lot of the surrounding states, so this is great place to come cool off. Enjoy something different from the beach, take your family out into nature. And for anytime of the year fun, Beckley has something for everyone. Of course, there are all your favorite fast food and sit down restaurants, as well as some home-grown restaurants that might become your new favorites. There is a wide variety of different shops. The Tamarack has everything you might want to see from our unique West Virginia craftsman. There are a lot of different antique shops and Crossroads Mall for those that might want something a little familiar. There is the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, where you can tour an actual coal mine and let the kids explore the coal mining town and the Youth Museum. During good weather, there are also trails, playground, basketball and tennis courts and a pool with a waterslide. There is also, Mountain State Miniature Golf which doesn’t have just mini-golf but offers a small coffee shop and an indoor climbing wall. Being able to bring our pet was a huge plus for our family. We also really appreciated the mud room—it was very convenient for storing skis and equipment—and the kitchen was well stocked and thoughtfully labeled, condo clean. That said, there were a number of issues that impacted our overall comfort. Upon arrival, the coffee pot did not work at all; thankfully, the owner was very responsive and brought a replacement quickly, which we appreciated. However, the crock pot only functioned on the high setting and not on low, making it impractical for keeping food warm throughout the day. Overall, the condo felt outdated, including the appliances. The TV did not connect to the internet or allow streaming services. Remote had dead batteries. The bunk beds—where our children slept—are located in the mud room directly off the front door. We couldn’t enter or exit without disturbing the kids, it was difficult to dry gear without waking them, and it raised safety concerns since that is the primary entry point into the condo. The bunk beds and the bed in the bedroom with deck access were very uncomfortable. Maintenance issues: 1 bedroom door was partially off its hinges at the bottom; and deck doors very difficult to open/close. We have stayed in different ones each year. Some are more updated than others. This condo was well stocked with everything you would need. You cannot beat the location for skiing. ##### Melanie A. Unit is old though and needs major updating. Leak stains on ceiling, master bath had a smell the whole time from water sitting in pipes or a clog, we weren’t sure. And just overall cleanliness needs work. Not sure who they have doing the cleaning but it’s not good at all. Window sills and on top of the refrigerator were disgusting and the floor was filthy. Had the sheets and towels had any issues the owner would have heard from us otherwise we didn’t bother to contact during our stay. So if cleanliness is a big issue for your stays, then this isn’t the place for you. ##### Jennifer G. It could use some construction updates. There was a door that accessed outside with no lock and the windows didn’t lock either. It is close to and easy to access to the slopes. ##### Allison P. This property is in a great location. Beautiful view overlooking the ski slopes of Winter Place. Nice and roomy for our group of 10\. The owners have stocked the cabinets with Aluminum Foil, Zip Lock Bags, trash bags and all the things you would need in the kitchen and bathroom but failed to bring. The only recommendation I would have is that there are a few cosmetic things on the walls in was different rooms that could be touched up. The place looks quite good but those minor improvements would be great. I have rental property in Myrtle Beach and I know how much work the upkeep is. Overall, I would recommend room E301\. It’s a great place to stay if you are looking for a ski in/ski out location. The view from the 3rd floor private balcony overlooking the ski slopes is beautiful. I can say that we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night, 5 day stay at Winter Haven Condo. We will return next year and will reserve room E301 if it is available.
