Try this condo in the off season and enjoy a quiet place when your not out exploring. In winter, ski in and out from this condo onto the slopes of Winterplace Ski Resort. This condo is located on the third floor and the deck overlooks the 'Last Chance' and 'Last Run' trails. It is also close to Beckley and Princeton, WV, Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve and southern WV whitewater country. During the ski season, we offer discounted equipment rentals from Ski Celebrations for all of our guests. The condo sleeps up to 10, great for a large family or a couple of small families with separate bathrooms or for those that just want some space and privacy that you can't get in a hotel. Extra-large deck to enjoy the views from. NOTE: We have several properties here at Winterplace and would be happy to help you find one that might work for you if this one is unavailable for the dates you are needing. The living room consist of a wood burning fireplace and a view out the sliding glass doors onto the slopes. The master bedroom has a queen bed with a bath and views onto the mountains. Everything you need to create great family memories! The condo has electric baseboard heaters in each room, so you can adjust the heat to the temperature that you prefer when it's cold outside. When it's hot, there is an AC unit installed in the living room above the sliding glass door. This is for AC only. We are not allowed to do duct work in the 2nd or 3rd floor condos, so this is the only practical way to get AC in the unit, leaving room doors open as often as possible helps to keep the whole condo cool. Please be aware when you book on our website or VRBO there is a fully refundable $200 security deposit that is added when you are booking your reservation on our website. This is required and will be refunded to you with-in 15 days of your check out as long as no damage done to the property. This is a standard practice for vacation home rentals as there is no staff at the facility and this allows you to check in with an electronic door code and check out by just leaving the morning of your last day. Also, the road to the condos is a gravel, hilly, road that is maintained by Winterplace Ski Resort. Low clearance vehicles will need to be careful coming up the hill from Winterplace Ski Resort's main parking area. In the winter, they grade the road and keep it plowed and put cinders on the road but please be prepared and understand you may need a four wheel drive, all wheel drive or chains to help get up the hill. We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. Problems can arise in multiple ways and travel insurance can be a low cost guard against losing your money if you have last minute problems and have to cancel. In the past, some of our guests have obtained insurance by going to www.InsureMyTrip.com for details and to purchase. We did call the people at InsuraneMyTrip and they do have plans that will cover for Covid issues but there are several important steps and needs to be done shortly after making your first deposit. The plans are called "Cancel For Any Reason" CFAR. Check with your insurance agent before deciding what insurance to purchase. We DO NOT endorse any insurance in particular. \~Long Term Stays \~ For those looking to stay for more than a week, the following changes apply: \- We only allow 3 people to stay per condo \- No pets allowed \- We do not provide daily maid service but will provide clean linens weekly. WINTERPLACE SKI-IN SKI-OUT CONDOS Enjoy skiing or snowboarding right outside your door while staying on the slopes at Winterplace Resort. Easy access to all the runs. Our condos are located on the top (3rd) floor with great views. Winterplace also offers snow-tubing runs and a snowboard terrain park. Winterplace Resort is conveniently located only 5 minutes from I-77 at the Ghent exit. NEAR BECKLEY AND WHITEWATER COUNTRY During the spring, summer and fall don’t think there is nothing to do. We are close to all the fun that southern West Virginia has to offer. Whitewater rafting, kayaking, river tubing, rock climbing, hiking, horseback riding etc. All different kinds of outdoor fun are waiting for you to take advantage of.There are several state and national parks near by, like Little Beaver State Parkand Grandview National Park. We are also near Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve. The temperature in the mountains of West Virginia remains cooler than a lot of the surrounding states, so this is great place to come cool off. Enjoy something different from the beach, take your family out into nature. And for anytime of the year fun, Beckley has something for everyone. Of course, there are all your favorite fast food and sit down restaurants, as well as some home-grown restaurants that might become your new favorites. There is a wide variety of different shops. The Tamarack has everything you might want to see from our unique West Virginia craftsman. There are a lot of different antique shops and Crossroads Mall for those that might want something a little familiar. There is the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, where you can tour an actual coal mine and let the kids explore the coal mining town and the Youth Museum. During good weather, there are also trails, playground, basketball and tennis courts and a pool with a waterslide. There is also, Mountain State Miniature Golf which doesn’t have just mini-golf but offers a small coffee shop and an indoor climbing wall. The condo had all the things we required--comfortable beds, kitchen with things we needed for cooking plus the extras like trash bags, coffee stuff, etc., a dryer to dry out wet gloves during those breaks, and dog friendly. It is not the most modern condo and there were areas that could have been a tad bit cleaner, but the sheets were clean, the towels were clean, and the bathrooms and kitchen were clean. The owners did an amazing job stocking the condo - better than some $10k+/week beach houses we have stayed in! Plenty of good quality plates, bowls, glasses, mugs, and silverware. The consumables like coffee, soaps, and toilet paper were well-stocked and labeled. We were short on blankets, but a quick call to the owner yielded a code to just grab what we needed from a closet. They even left us hand sanitizer and fire wood on the back porch to use for the fireplace. I loved that u were able to change the temperature in each room including the bathrooms. The only issue we had was we got there late (10pm) and couldnt figure out why we couldn’t get into our room with the passcode. We had no clue there was 2 different doors. On the plus side, even at that late we called for help and someone answered us right away to let us know what we were doing wrong. Also, winterplace but the snow machine right out side the room the second night. As a light sleeper, that was annoying. The room has an absolutely Beautiful view and so easy to ski right out of the parking lot. We didn’t have a great experience with winterplace due to snow tubing closed and we had no clue they closed at 4pm so we couldn’t do night skiing but thankfully the nice room and the view made up for it. The dryer was a great addition because we had great skiing weather all weekend. It snowed the whole weekend! But we were a little damper than normal. Loved that you left the extras for our use (garbage bags, ziplocks, condiments, coffee, etc.). We could only sleep 6 comfortably because of size of beds in master and guest bedrooms.
