The fishing in front of the house is FANTASTIC so if you enjoy the sport bring your poles and enjoy catching some Maine sea bass during your stay. I supply the fishing license! Children of all ages will enjoy playing disc golf, cornhole, croquet, badminton or some ping pong with the family in the Cottage's large grassy yard and adventure over to the local Five Islands neighborhood for a Lobster Roll at Five Islands Lobster Company. Evenings around the portable Solo Stove fire pit on the deck, or on the dock, making smores, and looking at the dazzling clear Maine night sky is what Maine vacation dreams are made of. Please note: The water currents in front of the property are very strong and therefore not safe for swimming during high tide. There are steps to get to the dock. Rainy days at Wiggleswick Cottage will be a treat with a selection of board games or a game of darts for the family while enjoying a crackling wood fire in the cottage's two story, show stopping, stone fireplace. In addition, I am the admin/creator of the wildly popular Facebook group, Dogs Welcome, that helps connect hosts who welcome dogs with travelers traveling with their four legged best friends. Midcoast Maine is known for its numerous, excellent hiking trails and has plenty of local wildlife including deer, osprey, bald eagles, and the occasional moose. Visit Reid State Park which is less than 5 miles away and has trails, and an excellent beach for long seaside walks or spending a carefree afternoon in the sun and surf. Looking for different types of adventures? Try one of the area's whale watching cruises and see the magnificent creatures up close. You'll have to visit charming historic downtown Bath, home to Bath Iron Works and Maine Maritime Museum, which only 20 minutes away where you can browse a variety of quality shops on Main Street and discover wonderful eateries and sweet treats. Don't forget Freeport, because what's a visit to Maine without visiting the LL Bean Flagship store (open 24 hours). The Cottage has a 2-story wall of view-filled windows with full pane French doors and features oak plank hardwoods floors throughout for a flowing light and bright feel. The kitchen is fully equipped and has brand new appliances, a breakfast bar and plenty of counter space overlooking a comfortable dining area for fun family meals, evening snacks or board game challenges. There is also Wi-Fi and a smart TV in the living room to keep up with the outside world or to have a movie night. All of the rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished with 1 BD and 1 BA (with a full-sized washer and dryer in it) on the main floor and 2 BD 1 BA upstairs. The downstairs full BA has a shower tub combo, and the 2nd floor BA features a walk-in shower. Boasting two single beds, the upstairs nautical bedroom is perfect for the kids and their imaginations or the adults who are kids at heart, and the upstairs ensuite bedroom boasts a hanging hammock bed (Hangout Pod) for curling up with a book or taking a cozy nap. The property also has it's safety certification through Breezeway so you can relax knowing your family's safety and security are a top priority. It is a great family vacation spot and we have had many wonderful experiences there. Reid State Park is great for sunning, hiking and climbing on the rocks ! Especially after a delicious breakfast at Mae's in Bath. The house is clean and furnished so well! We love Sara the Hostess with the most generous and outgoing personality! The owner added many extra touches to welcome us and the dog. Everything was clean and well stocked. We were there for a wedding and spent a lot of time just relaxing on the deck enjoying family time together. Little disappointed that the dock was already up for the season but understandable due to weather issues. That just makes us want to come back earlier in the season to enjoy the water more! Spotlessly clean - you honestly wouldn't know it was a dog-friendly place unless you read the listing. Folks that aren't even traveling with their 4 legged friend would still be pleased!! The communication and emails leading up to our trip with Sara , the host, was far and above the best experience we've had - she had provided ideas for dog-friendly places to visit , eat etc., and all were perfect - as well as a digital guidebook with answers to every possible question you may come up with during your stay. She truly has gone above and beyond with the property so that her guests (and their 4 legged friends) have the most magical get-away. The cabin is super cute and spacious. 2 huge bathrooms, good sized bedrooms, clean and well-equipped kitchen (wither everything labeled), beautiful wrap around deck and expansive yard (there's even a dog agility course!). The little trail down to the dock/water was well maintained and lit and not too far from the house. The Dock was brand new and the view from it was 10/10\. We didn't use the grill but there was a charcoal grill and outside table perfect for a BBQ. Comfy beds (humans and dogs too ) in each room. Fans in each room and great breeze thru the downstairs at night. Plenty of towels/toilet paper etc. Saw lots of deer in the yard / on the road to the cabin. We really wish Wiggleswick was our own!! We are so grateful to come across this location. The owner was immediately responsive before and while we were there to any questions. This place checks all of the boxes and the owner thinks of things that I would have never thought of. My family, friend, and dogs truly felt at home. My dogs were extra spoiled by their goodie bag. We didn’t even have to think out what was in each of the kitchen cabinets or what light switch turned on what because everything was labeled in such a thoughtful way. The location, home, dock, yard…everything was PERFECT! And Sara goes above and beyond with her extras and personal touches. We were greeted with a wooden sign displaying our family name! Then opened the fridge to a beautiful charcuterie tray for snacks! In addition, Sara had a lobster keychain, and personal card to welcome us. Her communication throughout the process of booking and staying was top notch! She is so attentive and helpful. Probably the most helpful host we’ve ever encountered. Any little question I had, she would respond within minutes. In addition, she gave us so many great ideas for exploring the area, from a blueberry farm to pick our own berries, to a great grocery store with gluten free items, to a fantastic river cruise with River Run Tours! The dock and yard make for a magical stay. Our family played yard games, used the kayaks, and loved sitting down on Belvedere (the dock) to watch the boats go by. The house is beautifully situated with easy access to the dock, water views from the wrap around porch, and a cozy well- appointed indoor space. We loved picking up oysters from Eros and shucking them at the house after a day at Popham. Sara is a very thoughtful host and hasn’t overlooked a single detail. Our dogs loved using the guest dog tags, beds, and toy basket. Who does that!!?? (hint: Sara does!!) When we took a closer look at the amenities, location, and area attractions we didn't hesitate to book our stay! Upon arrival we were amazed at the property itself: spotless, gorgeous, no detail overlooked. Our dogs were not an afterthought! From comfortable beds, towels to wipe wet paws, and furniture covers, the Cottage was well-prepared for canine visitors. We humans enjoyed comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, ultra-plush bath towels, peace, quiet, and stunning views! The attention to detail for humans and dogs alike was much appreciated and unmatched anywhere. We have never felt so spoiled!!
