Długa Street is undoubtedly one of the most representative and recognisable streets in Gdańsk, forming the heart of the historic city centre. Its extraordinary charm and rich history attract thousands of tourists every year, eager to experience the atmosphere of the former Hanseatic port and admire the stunning architecture of centuries past. Located on the Royal Route, leading from the monumental Golden Gate to the Green Gate on the Motława River, Długa Street connects the most important points of Gdańsk's old town. It is surrounded by intricately decorated historic tenement houses, each of which bears witness to the wealth and prestige of the city's former inhabitants: merchants, councillors and patricians. The facades of the buildings are decorated with carvings, family coats of arms, cornices and colourful details, which make a walk down this street feel like a journey back in time.
