We had a 1 year old with us who loves to climb. We did bring gates for the steps however, they weren’t long enough. We did find that putting the coolers to the steps in the basement worked well as well as using one of the portable beds that is supplied to block the steps going upstairs worked perfectly. The cabin was very clean and the views were amazing! We did have some bears walk through in the evenings and even witnessed a bear dig up a beehive. It is just outside of the craziness of Gatlinburg, but close enough to lots of different activities. My parents and in-laws traveled with our family of four, and it was amazing to have three separate master bedrooms with their own bathrooms. The cabin is well-equipped, and the games in the basement were a huge hit for our kids. The pools were great too. While the road up to the cabin is initially a bit scary, you very quickly get used to it. You’re able to see a ziplone off the deck, and our family went on the tour with Climb Works (located just at the base of the mountain)- it was amazing, and we would highly recommend! We saw at least four different bears throughout our week there, and three new ones approached when we were loading our cars to go home. They are very quiet and have no shame, so be on alert! Our family enjoys being off the beaten path and out of the crowds. Both of these cabins were just that. They are both very spacious with tons of amenities. We did not ever have anything to do is the spare time of lounging around. The views of the deck were exactly what the Smoky Mountains are written about. This was our first family trip to the mountains and I can confidently state nothing will likely ever top this. The location is great, adjacent to town but a bit more isolated. First off the views are out of this world off the living room. We spent lots of time there enjoying every minute of it. It was nice to have the separation of the rooms which provided extra privacy with everyone having their own bathroom. The beds were all comfy which isn't alwaysthe case. . The gameroom was a blast, playing billiards and old arcade games. This was a huge plus for our family. The ride up to the mountain was a bit of a challenge at first but we were pros by day two. Chris and Sarah were great with communication and providing answers to any questions we had. They are invested more than most others that we have dealt with on VRBO in providing a great stay. The view was beautiful. We were able to bring our fur baby which was wonderful. Owners provided detail instructions regarding the rental property. They also warned about ladybug issue prior to our check-in. Definitely had a ladybug outbreak during our stay. Hundreds of those little buggers every where which we had to vacuum daily. Negatives were minor - a dirty rag left by cleaning crew in kitchen that had dried and adhered to the counter. Kinda yucky and the front entrance was covered in leaves, debris and bugs which we swept to keep from tracking in cabin. Cabin is beautiful with exceptional Mountain Views. We really enjoyed our stay at the Star Dancer. We are already planning our next stay. The views were breathtaking. The zip line tours were hilarious to watch from the back porch. Bring binoculars. There were so many amenities in this cabin. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to cook just about anything you could want. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The three master bedrooms were equipped with their own bathrooms. The master bath is amazing! The other two bathrooms were perfectly placed for quick use by all! There are so many windows and light coming in! The game room was a huge hit. We loved the pool and air hockey and the added touch of the Bluetooth speakers. Our absolute favorites were the movie theatre and the hot tub. We also noted a lot of bear activity around the cabin during the day. We were out and about a good bit, but our last full day we hung around the cabin to rest and had a visit by two bears in the driveway around noon. They were absolutely adorable. One was a very large and docile bear and the other a skittish teenager. They moved away quickly while we tried to get photos. The cabin is very clean and well maintained. We will definitely return. I thought I would mention the cabin is very sturdy as well. There was a small earthquake that woke us up one morning, but there was no damage. Beautiful views, perfect for star gazing, great space, needs more beds/bunk beds. Penny pinchers and want to squeeze any all fees possible for all kinds of reasons. (Ex. Plates on the sink $100 or leave past 10am oclock and get charged another $100). With so many conditions, rules, and penalties, it felt we had to clean the place ourselves and leave by sunrise. Although we appreciate the instructions and emails, ultimately, it felt we came to an army drill or escape room, follow the instructions to the teeth, or you will strike out. We came to relax and spend time with the family and left stressed out and rushing out to prevent getting penalized. Excess of emails and overwhelming instructions. Aug 30, 2023 #### Wonderful cabin with a million dollar view Perfectly located between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and backed up to the Smokey Mountain Park system. Absolutely beautiful large cabin with every amenity. Very private only one near-by neighbor (same owner as this property). Appreciated that each bedroom is a en suite and spaced apart for privacy. Kitchen is well stocked with everything necessary to prepare meals. Plenty of room for dining and gathering in the great room. We selected this cabin, in part, because of the game room and theater since weather is unpredictable and it didn’t disappoint. Our family enjoyed a couple stormy days/nights at the cabin as much as we did exploring the area. But nothing, absolutely nothing compares to the view - it is absolutely breathtaking!!! As we drove through to some of the “lookout” points in the Smokey’s, we laughed because the view from our couch and deck were better! Make sure you catch at least one sunrise and sunset from the deck! We also enjoyed a couple bear visits right in our back yard and on the road to the cabin (at a safe distance). Our family did a lot during the week and we strongly suggest a hike in the mountains (drive if that suits you better), white water rafting, golfing, an evening to walk the strip in Gatlinburg, Hillbilly Golf (down the mountainside) and the Ripley’s mountain coaster at night with lights (fasted one). You can’t go wrong with this rental. It’s fantastic! And the owner’s communication is outstanding. We will definitely stay again if we are in the area. ##### Linda G. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Alan M. In the past we used the bigger property management companies to rent our cabin, which is typically a very large high end cabin. Our experiences with these companies have been horrible. Lack of cleanliness, maintenance, and overall communication when things go wrong. So this year we decided to go with an owner managed cabin and found star dancer. From the very beginning, the owner Chris communicated promptly, answered all our questions and provided us with every piece of information we needed to prepare for our stay. The price was reasonable and booking was a breeze. Upon arrival, the cabin was very clean and well maintained. There were a few very minor issues that needed to be addressed. I contacted Chris and he had people out the same day. We had a great time and the cabin was very well equipped with everything we needed to cook, watch movies in the theater and all have enough room to spread out. During our two week stay, we had some severe weather with over 100 MPH winds. Chris sent his local property manager out just to check on us and address any issues we may have had. These are the services you get from an owner managed cabin vs one of the large companies that could care less. Overall, our stay was fantastic and we highly recommend this cabin and more importantly, this owner. Chris understands the importance of guest experience. Exceeded my expectations and I, by the time the trip came around, with all the communication with Chris & Sarah, already had high hopes for this rental. This was my first cabin/home rental. I grew up going camping in a pop-up camper or renting a cabin in a campground, as I got older we stayed in hotels. Chris & Sarah were extremely informative. You can tell they took the time to think and answer any possible question or issue you could have. We arrived late, and the view outside the cabin was breathtaking in the dark night sky! Walking into the home, CLEAN, honestly spotless! I always come armed to clean before the family gets comfortable. I never realized the stress I put on myself when I feel the need to clean everything right away. I felt a sense of relief, and literally relaxed for the entire stay. Even when we saw a big bear walk across the back yard!! Y’all WE SAW A BEAR! The views, the amenities, the decor, watching the zip-liners, the sunsets, the SUNRISES, the stars,the just EVERYTHING. It’s evident Chris and Sarah put themselves in the viewpoint of the renter and possibly thought of everything. We went with a big family group and honestly they were singing my praises, the whole time, and not gonna lie, was pretty great! This fantastic cabin, in this fantastic location, did I mention we saw a bear, live, like right there! I’m pretty sure I will be renting from this family from now on. The bar is set too high now!
