If you are looking for mountain views and a place close to downtown gatlinburg and the ski slopes then this is the condo for you! Higher Altitude at High Chalet Condo's offer amazing views of Mount LeConte, and the ski slopes at Ober Gatlinburg. The view from the balcony offers views of the ski slopes and Mount LeConte. The balcony can be accessed from the living room or the master bedroom.  
High chalet is a peaceful resort featuring a seasonal outdoor pool, hot tubs that are opened year round, Picnic areas with charcoal or gas grills, and a game room featuring a foosball table, shuffle board and various board games. The condo also has its own dedicated high speed WIFI.  
  
Bedrooms: "Higher Altitude" has two bedrooms offering comfortable queen size beds and comfortable sheets. The master bedroom has a private bath and access to the balcony. There is an upstairs loft bedroom that offers two twin beds. Both bedrooms offer views of the mountains and Ober Gatlinburg ski resort.  
  
Bathrooms: our unit has two bathrooms that are nicely decorated with fresh clean bath towels, wash clothes and hand towels. We provide shampoo, conditioner and body wash located in each shower.  
  
Kitchen: The Kitchen is stocked with plates, pots, pans, silverware, glasses, and cups. Other features include microwave, dishwasher and kitchen table for two and bar that seats two.  
  
Living room: features include comfortable couch and chair, throws and pillows. Centered in the living room is a cozy electric fireplace. 50" flat screen tv with dvd player. Spectacular views of the mountains and of the ski slopes. Sliding glass door that leads to the balcony with amazing views of Mount LeConte and Ober Gatlinburg.  
  
Higher Altitude at High Chalet is located only 4 miles from downtown Gatlinburg and about 1.5 mile from ober gatlinburg ski slopes. Area attractions are easily accessible from the Condo.

1\. What Linens are included? - We provide linens for beds, bath towels, and wash cloths. If you are not accustomed to reusing bath towels you may need to bring a few with you, also don't forget your beach towels for the pool and hot tubs.  
  
2\. What household supplies are provided? - We get you started with 1 roll of paper towels, at least 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, dish detergent, at least 2 dishwasher pods, and kitchen trash bags.  
  
3\. What does the Kitchen include? -The kitchen is stocked with everything you would expect in a normal kitchen plus a toaster, various pots and pans, wine glasses, a Keurig, and a regular coffee pot.  
  
4\. Does the Complex have a grill?- Yes! there are several Charcoal grill areas around the Complex and a couple gas grills located in front of building 1 for Guest use.  
  
5\. Do you allow Pets? - No. Pets are not allowed at High Chalet.  
  
6\. Is there a community club house and pool area? - Yes the complex has a pool area with two hot tubs, sauna, and a game room. The pool is outdoor and seasonal. Our unit is in building one which is the closest building to the pool area.  
  
7\. When will I get the address and access infromation to the Condo? - We will message the door code, and directions at least 2-5 days prior to your check in date.  
  
8\. What time is Check in and Check out? - You can check in any time after 3PM and you must check out prior to 11 am on the day of your departure.  
  
9\. What type of internet do you provide? - We provide unlimited gigabit internet with wi-fi.  
  
10\. Are there any days where check-in or Check-out is not permitted?- The only two days that we do not allow check-in or check-out are Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Points faibles : Propreté

The view is not much like the one pictured if you go any time outside of winter as the trees block most of it. Over all, it’s a nice place to sleep but definitely not to hang out. We couldn’t get the living room TV to work and even after contacting the host we never heard anything back about it. There was quite the mosquito infestation, we had over 50 bites between 3 of us. We were given the wrong code for the pool and game room area, never got in touch with the host after multiple attempts on our end of reaching out. Eventually ran into someone outside and they gave us the correct code. Everything is very out dated. Also, if you are comfortable driving the mountain roads and want the higher altitude, this is for you! lol if you are not a fan of the narrow roads with intense incline this may not be it.

Overall, this was only okay (reasons below):-We did not get the check-in email from the owner or VRBO. I waited for a couple of hours after the check-in time and messaged the owner. He told me that it was sent and was very irritated that I asked in the first place. i told him that I received and email from VRBO the day of check-in that I would receive it. He said that it was not his problem and reluctantly sent it to me.-We could not find the properties door. The address was for the location of the condo itself, not the door. It was difficult to find the property at night.-There is no washer and dryer in the condo itself, you have to go to another floor and pay. This should state that on the listing. That was a huge problem once we got there.-The patio door and the sliding door to the balcony were both broken and damaged. The sliding door wouldn't even lock properly. When I messaged the owner, he responded that it will get fixed after the peak season. What? I just told you that both doors are not secure and you won't come out and fix it. Very unsettling and unsafe for our family.-Most of the décor was outdated and blinds were either broken or missing.-There were 4 remotes for the main tv, some missing backs of remotes and most had missing batteries. I messaged the owner about it and he said that he will have someone address it when we leave. Really? Be aware, owner was not willing to take any responsibility for their property and not willing to fix anything onsite

I waited 3 weeks to post this review hoping the host would do what he said and credit my discount he promised. Upon arriving at the condo you will notice that the building is a bit run down. The view is terrible and if you are looking for a sunrise or a sunset or any type of glorious Mountain View, you will not find it here. The a/c unit was not working at all. Took a while to contact the host. We had to sleep with the windows all open the entire time which made us sick. The host informed us the next day that the a/c would be out the whole time. He stated that if we chose to say that he would refund a portion of the stay. I have waited 3 weeks and tried contacting him several times to no avail. The shower head was busted and only worked on massage. The blinds were broken in several,places and the host was informed about this from the beginning. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to stay where the host is actually nice and the condo is higher quality. It was the only bad stay and experience I have ever had in the mountains. May you never have the terrible experience we had…..

Old worn out property/condo. Main bathtube/shower floor sinking. carpet old worn out,matted, stained and smelly.bed mattress old worn out. Sinking in the middle..deteriorating patio.poorly cleaned condo. there was a nasty sponge mop in the closet. I bought my own cleaning supplies. WiFi was good. We made the best out of it but completely disappointed. We are NOT overacting. It is OLD and Worn out. balcony

#### Amazing place to stay on top of the mountain

A great place to stay if you plan to visit Smokey National park. National park is very close as well as downtown Gatlinburg is minutes away. The cabin itself is spacious and has all facilities you get at home. Very well maintained. No parking issues. Reasonable price. Note that the drive to chalet village itself is challenging because of narrow roads. Just be careful.

This property was in a great location, near the top of a mountain near downtown Gatlinburg and a short drive to Pidgeon Forge. We saw bears every evening on our way back to the condo and twice walking through the condo parking lot. The beds were too hard for my comfort but my husband liked the firmness. The roads leading to the resort were winding and often had steep drop offs with no guard rails. I couldn’t drive them, luckily my husband grew up in a mountainous terrain and was able to drive. This unit is on the third floor with no elevator, be prepared to walk a lot of stairs. The pool was not heated. The floor to ceiling blinds for the loft bedroom were missing 1/2 the blinds making them ineffectual. Room darkening curtains would be a better substitute for the loft. This unit was missing a kitchen table, it just had an elevated table with two high chairs- and bar stools at the kitchen counter. The decor was cute and we felt safe staying here, however, I would not book a third floor unit without an elevator again.

Overall, the stay was amazing. We got to see bears enjoy the mountain air. The condo was a little dusty, the master bath tub creaked when you used it, which is a little unsettling and the ceiling fan/main light did not work, but overall an amazing stay will definitely use again if coming back to the area

Great time in the Smokey Mountains. Property is about 25-30 minute drive from main attractions in Pigeon Forge. Condo was as described. No issues with our stay. Had access to the pool and 2 hot tubs

We did not fully realize that you must climb up three levels with all your luggage and groceries as there is no elevator! I wish that was more obvious as my husband only has half of one foot and finds stairs very difficult.

#### Week in the Smokies

My family of three and my parents stayed here for a dance convention in Gatlinburg end of June. It is located up a steep mountain and on the third floor and there are only steps going to it so if steps are hard be warned. Condo was clean on arrival. We had brought our food and started unloading coolers into the refrigerator. The fridge unit didn’t seem cold enough but I figured maybe it was because it was open for a bit while loading it, so we just waited a few hours and checked again…it was not cold enough. Freezer seemed fine. Communication with the host was quick and easy where he told us to set it at a certain temp and it was a bit better after a bit. However, the fridge didn’t close well so you had to really make sure it was closed and there were no shelves on the door to use with a broken piece inside and a non working appliance light. My husband and father went out on the balcony where there was a cute three piece patio set and discovered that the seat wasn’t attached to one of the chairs but just propped up there. I immediately sent the host a message through Vrbo to make him aware of what we found. He stated he appreciated the message and he would look into it. Other than that, the pool was wonderful in the evenings , and beds were fine, with a view of Mount LeConte from the hot tub. We met a fellow traveler with a family that stayed on the property and pool nights were very nice since my daughter and I had someone to hang out with. We had a great stay.
