Our 3 bedroom/2 bath penthouse is located on the fifth floor at Diamond Beach Resort and Spa, which is unequivocally the preeminent resort in Galveston. All of the condos at Diamond Beach have great views of the water but this is one of the few condos that has a view of the bay and the ocean. Starting at the front door, you have a wonderful view of the bay. As you step inside the penthouse, you will be greeted by floor-to-ceiling windows with spectacular views of the Gulf of Mexico. When you open the sliding glass doors, you will step onto your private oversized balcony with a 180 degree view of the bay and the gorgeous Gulf waters. The balcony is a great place to sip a cup of coffee in the morning before everyone wakes up or have a nice tropical drink in the evening with your family and friends. The master bedroom in the penthouse is one of the few units that has floor-to-ceiling windows with a spectacular view of the Gulf. The bedroom is an oasis for rest and relaxation, starting with its chandelier, deluxe king- size bed, and 55-inch flat screen TV (my husband’s decorating input) . The bathroom contains a wonderful rain-shower and an oversized tub. The bathroom also has his and her sinks. The condo has complimentary Wifi. The 2nd bedroom has a deluxe queen size bed, a custom headboard, a 55 inch-flat screen TV (again my husband’s decorating input). The 3rd bedroom has a deluxe king size bed, a custom headboard, and a large flat screen TV . The 2nd bath is across from the two guest bedrooms with a walk-in shower. The penthouse is tiled with stone floor and a washer/dryer. The penthouse comes with a fully equipped kitchen and has granite counter tops. You’ll have 180 degree views of the ocean as you prepare waffles for breakfast or eat your favorite take-out foods from the large selection of restaurants within a short distance of Diamond Beach. The dining table seats 6 and the counter-stools sit 3, which is where the kids like to sit. The living room has fantastic views of the ocean, a queen-sleeper sofa, and a 60-inch flat screen smart TV (you’ll never guess who picked out the TV). The condo sleeps up to 8 people. Diamond Beach boasts of many amenities including: Concierge: A concierge desk open 7 days a week from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm for your convenience with a staff knowledgeable regarding the island’s best attractions and restaurants. Pools: Three pools consisting of a 750 ft. lazy river with a swim up bar and grill, a gigantic 300 ft. tiered cascading pool (which contains a kids’ pool), and Galveston’s only indoor heated pool for year-round enjoyment. The pools have plenty of lounge chairs or, if you want something more private, you can rent a cabana for the day. Pool Bar: The pool bar is open on Fridays and Saturdays during the summer. Spa: Ruthy's Spa is now open on the 4th floor. Book your appointment and relax with one of the many wonderful treatments. Gym: The Look Better in Your Swimsuit Center (aka The Exercise Room). This place may inspire those of us (like me) who would prefer to have a tooth extracted instead of going to the gym to actually get on a treadmill with its spectacular vistas of the Gulf. Game Room. Tabletop shuffleboard, foosball, pin ball machines, a billiards table, and a Wii Room for the kids and sometimes even parents get to play. Cinema Room: If you are in the mood to go to the movies, all you need to do is step into the private theater room at Diamond Beach while you enjoy a bag of popcorn. Kids Jungle Room: With its jungle murals, games, blocks, oversized bean bags and TV, this is the place to be for the hip toddler crowd. Business Center: If you must work, at least you’ll have great views of the indoor pool and beach. Beach Access: If you have time to go to the beach after doing all of the activities at Diamond Beach Resort & Spa, all you need to do is open the door on the property next to the lazy river and walk down to the beach. Diamond Beach is located just steps away from the beach. There’s no need to cross the road or jump in the car. Diamond Beach is near everything. Just a few minutes car drive from: (i) entertainment (Moody Gardens; Miniature Golf; Schlitterbahn Waterpark; The Stand; Railroad Museum); (ii) golf courses (Moody Gardens Golf Course and Galveston Country Club), (iii) recreational activities (Seaside Bicycle Rentals; fishing for speckled trout, redfish, founder, golden croaker); bird watching (3/4 of all North American species travel through Galveston during fall and spring migration), (iv) restaurants (everything from McDonald’s to Guido’s), and (v) lots of shopping. The week before Christmas it was cold and foggy and we took great advantage of the indoor heated pool. The kids did venture out and do the hot tub and the lazy River. It's proximity to Moody Gardens was excellent. The kitchen was so well stocked with pots and pans, cooking utensils, trash bags, spices, coffee, mugs, colanders, serving platters and silverware. It was a joy to cook for my grandkids several of our meals each day. The amenities for the children if they're small they have the special playroom with all the toys there. Older ones had the game room with tons of games including pool. Even sit down video games. The original Pac-Man and a wonderful golf game. When the adults started cooking the preteens headed to the arcade and then we would just pop over and get them at dinner time. Parking was easy breezy and the daily wristbands kept people out of the complex that were not supposed to be there. Security key fobs would let guests into the water areas and the elevators to go up to your units. It felt very very secure. Front desk 24-hour concierge was amazing as well. There were no grab bars in bathroom area or shower area in the master. No shelf in master shower or commode room. No cookie sheets or serving bowls in kitchen but otherwise well stocked. If you go in September you cannot see sunrise on the balcony. Views somewhat obsructed of the beach area, BUT, the patio was amazing. We loved the condo and the size of the outooor space. There was construction next door but the noise wasn't bad with the sound of the ocean in the background. Plus, watching the crane was pretty neat. The inside was very clean and spacious and there were a lot of essentials provided. The only thing missing was sheet pans so we had to go buy our own. This unit has had the most amazing hall bath upgrade- the new shower is luxurious and improved the experience so much, because getting in and out of the original deep tub that most of these units have was very difficult, so we loved the new shower improvement. The diamond beach resort amenities are luxurious and delightful- lazy river and easy beach access are the best. The view is spectacular, and we would stay here again. ##### Grace W. We enjoyed our stay. The condo has a large outdoor patio it is over the roof of the gym so you are not able to see the pool or lazy river below. I knew this when I reserved it. I only mention it because I was a little unsure how it was going to be, but it is a great patio and there are great views of the ocean and beach. It felt more private and we very much enjoyed the outside space. The only issues we had were that we are used to having more bath towels and wash clothes available we had to wash towels frequently and the dryer wasn't working but they were in the process of servicing the dryer when we left. Every bedroom and the livingroom had TV's but we were not able to stream as the apps we not availble on the TV's- that was a little inconvenient but we reserved the theater room every night. Overall it is a very nice condo with comfy beds and we enjoyed our stay. The host was very sweet and responsive. Diamond Beach is a great place to stay and there is so much to do without having to leave - we love the lazy river and theater room the most. We enjoyed the bar at the pool as well! ##### Karen H. However the resort itself was underwhelming. The bar inside the resort and pool area were completely closed, no heads up was given. Spacious, clean and the walk in showers were great. Kitchen is well stocked and laid out nicely. Plenty of coffee filters for you coffee drinkers. Host has shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in each shower as well as hand soap at each sink which was very nice. Hair dryers are also available. Sheets are a poly blend-if you like cotton, then you’ll understand. Galveston was a nice area. With lots of things to do. Location was good. Close to everything but far enough away to be out of the commotion and tourist activities. A new building is being constructed right next door to Diamond Condos. When we stayed there was a 100’ auger/drill being used and a lot of diesel equipment. This is right outside the condo patio. If you enjoy watching these types of projects then You have a Birds Eye view. But for us, It was loud and stinky so we really weren’t able to enjoy the patio or hear the ocean except at night. Workers there early until sunset. Beeping construction noises and motors highly present. This also impacts the lazy river as it is overall noisy at that end of the property. For this reason, we would have preferred to stay somewhere else. It is a large multi story building being constructed so I would expect this project to take several months if not a year. It wasn’t disclosed and we didn’t ask about construction nearby so shame on us. If there wasn’t any construction then this would be a great location. ##### Paul and Lisa L. Our family of six (three adults, three children, including a baby) had a wonderful two week stay at this condo in Galveston. Communication with the owner was impeccable, making the booking and check-in process seamless. The condo itself was beautifully decorated, filled with thoughtful anecdotes, and stocked with extras that are often missing in other rentals—such as additional trash bags and dishwasher detergent. We especially loved the abundance of books, DVDs, and games, which made our stay even more enjoyable for both kids and adults. The checkout process was just as smooth, making our departure stress-free. We truly appreciated the attention to detail and the welcoming atmosphere. Do note that there is an outcropping blocking a direct-down view of the beach (the fitness center and inside pool are under the condo) and that, although this is the largest balcony at Diamond Beach, the 7th floor is the highest floor. The condo is spacious and the décor beautiful! We only wished for better pans to cook in (very scratched) and one more pair of tongs...everything was amazing! Even real Kleenex provided in each room. Icemaker worked (uncommon in rentals) and condo was quiet and in an excellent location on the property. Loved the underground parking! You will have to drive to go to restaurants and bars, but not far (try Cooper's Landing just west of Diamond Beach). Our 3 year old boy was entertained the whole time with the lazy river, play room, and arcade. The amenities are worth it, rather than getting a beach house down the street of which we have done before. The lazy river is nice and our son absolutely enjoyed the easy access to the beach and sand. This condo was very clean and peaceful. Lots of space and beautiful view of the beach on the balcony.
