We arrived for them to tell us the hotel was closed because the systems were down. No one called to tell us so we could make a new reservation elsewhere. No apology, no trying to help us find a place or offer of a discount for another stay. Worst customer service ever. I do not recommend in case you show up and they are closed and dont bother to let you know. We stayed at hotel next door and customer service was great!! I highly recommend them!!

Its a decent hotel they are in the middle of renovations I think there was some exposed wire in my room. Cell service and wifi was completely unstable.

I am not at all a picky person and usually just look for the cheapest room when I just need something for 1 night but this place is horrible. It’s dirty, run down, elevators are all broke so had to carry luggage up to 3rd floor, “continental breakfast” consisted of Little Debbi muffins and corn flakes. The room had an extremely foul odor that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. It reminded me of sulfur but not sure why it would have such a strong sulfur smell. The only positive thing I can say was that the bed was firm.

I like to stay at locally owned hotels to help small business owners, but my decision to stay here was not a good one. The hotel is out of date and while they are working on it it needs a lot. We had to change rooms because the room we were put in had a hole in the window with a board taped to it that was large enough for a person to crawl in through. At first they said that they would not be able to move me and I asked for a refund and they found me another room instead. The cleanliness of the places was only so so, and the pool was closed on the weekend.

The Commodore cancelled our reservation two days before our stay due to the fact that their air conditioning was out. We rebooked with Gaidos through Hotels.com. We were very pleased.

I’ve been staying at the Commodore since I was a kid. It’s my favorite hotel on the island. It’s not fancy, but it’s always been clean and convenient. The pool has always been very nice. This time, they called me a week before my scheduled arrival to tell me the elevator was out and the pool was closed. I was going to stay there anyway so I kept my reservation. Then, 30 minutes outside of Galveston I get a phone call. Whatever work they were having done, someone cut the chiller line and there was no AC in the hotel. They had to cancel my reservation. I was there on the island five days and in that time they never open back up. I never learned why the pool was closed. From the street there didn’t appear to be anything wrong with the pool area. It seems like they are just letting the property go. It’s very sad and disappointing.

It was an ok place to stay one night.
It was an OK place to spend the night. Had a great view of the beach! The only thing is I could not reach the locker there was a way up in the top of the door so I put a chair against the handle of the door So I could feel safer.

We had reservations. Motel was closed due to no electric. Did not call us even though it was out the day before so they knew people would be arriving. We arrive to check in and 2 ladies sitting there not doing anything, they could have been calling people to let us know!!! Very poor customer service, very inconsiderate. We then scrambled to find another hotel after driving for 4 hours!

First and last. I booked this hotel because of the pool. We arrived very late almost 1am. Very tired from delayed flight from canada. I booked for 2 beds, but we got 1 bed. I did not asked to changed because of tiredness. The pool is green because of algae, disgusting, not usable. But I paid full amount of $234. The site should not mention that there is a pool, because there is none.

The place is run down pool was closed and full of green water but nothing was said about it. Elevator was not working. According to other reveiws these have been out for months. Only thing about the place that was okay was the room. Even though most places I've been are much better.

Elevator was broken. No hot water. No water pressure in shower. Wi-Fi did not work. Door would not shut. Toilet was not cleaned. Muddy footprints on the bathroom floor. TV would not shut off. Roaches in the bathroom. Continental breakfast? Not at this dump. Oh yeah, almost forgot the pool was green. All of this for $200.00 a night. Absolute bargain. The disease is free.

Elevator out of service. Pool was bionic green with mold growing out of the waterfall. Air vents were nasty. Water dripping from ceiling and back door didn’t close. This place should NOT be operating.

Well when we got there to check in after driving three hours we were told the pool was being cleaned and would be closed for two days. Then was told the elevator was broke. So we had to stay somewhere else because my aunt cant go up stairs. And had to pay $200 more because it was the weekend and last minute. I was very disappointed and discouraged

I wanted to like the place, but.....
I understand the place is supposedly under rehab. I never saw or heard workers, so I can not verify. We were told the elevator was inoperable so we knew that coming in. However, every staff person we encountered (4) were rude and acted as if we were an inconvenience. Both my wife and I are super friendly and upbeat people, and we remained that way even though they were uncaring. Our room had only one large bath towel for our 2 night stay and when I went down to ask for an extra blanket and towel, we were quickly and rudely told "we ain't got none". The employee then went on to say "if one shows up, I call ya". When I got back to our room, I then realized there were no phones present anywhere in the room, along with no coffee maker or microwave. Obviously the place was old, but come on, it clearly looked like it had not seen any TLC in many many years. And after observing several of our fellow guests, both in the lobby and around and on the grounds, it appears this place attracts an "unsavory" element. We've been coming to Galveston frequently for years, have never stayed at the Commodore before, and absolutely never will again. There's too many other nicer places on the Seawall that are closely priced, so, we will not be darkening their door again.

Run down and should not be a choice on this site
This hotel is not sanitary. When entering in room there was a ball of hair on floor... in bathroom was a ponytail holder hanging on door with hair on it. Floor looked like it had not been mopped, drain plug was pulled out from tub and left laying in tub. Upon going out to balcony we have a great view of a lime green pool. This was not a place we felt comfortable in but had no choice to stay unless we wanted to sleep in our car to get on the cruise ship the next day. Front desk associate was far from helpful nor polite about any of it.

The hotel is in a prime location across from the beach. But the room was unclean beds are comfortable but thrown together. The elevator is broke. And has been broke since last time I stayed. No coffee unless you don’t mind instant. The staff was friendly. The swimming pool is also broken and green. The owner of this hotel has neglected such a prime investment.

The hotel is under renovation. The common areas are very dirty, the room service was not good at all; I had to ask them to clean my room. The towels were insufficient, the pool was very dirty. The breakfast was lousy; I don't know why they don't update or inspect the list of hotels. The photos that one sees of the hotel are not updated.

They are ok to stay the night but no trash can in the bathroom. Only one small one in the room. The breakfast was ok just the basic muffins and granola bars and juice and coffee.

The pictures online were NOT what we received. The elevators were broke and we had to lug 4 suitcases up to 4th floor. Pool was GREEN and filthy. Toilet was filthy. Bed sheets stained. Windows were gross. Trash left outside everywhere and our room door didn’t lock from the outside. Felt unsafe leaving our stuff alone. Thank god this was just for 1 night so we could get to our cruise. Far from paradise as they advertised. Would never stay again.
