Situated in a prime resort location, just a mile to the Owner’s Club and 7 miles to Downtown Galena, along with many wedding & event venues nearby including Ashton Hill, Eagle Ridge, and more. As you pull into the driveway of The Retreat at Shagbark, you’ll get the feeling of being home where you can relax and enjoy time with family and friends. As you walk down the stairs to this home, you’ll see a large wrap-around porch with a bistro table and outdoor seating that’s surrounded by the peaceful serenity of nature and woods. Once you enter this spectacular, expansive home, you’ll see soaring ceilings along with the open space where everyone can gather. There’s a large kitchen where you can make home-cooked meals with a counter large enough to fill with foods for all to feast on as they enjoy time together. Off the kitchen, there is access to the large outdoor deck with a gas grill and a 3-season porch off the living room. There are four bedrooms and four full baths, all with ensuites, with one being on the main level with a king-size bed. Upstairs is an extra-large primary suite with a king-size bed. On the lower level, the two additional bedrooms have a queen-sized bed, and the other with two twin-sized beds, and a sleeper sofa in the lower level living room. This home has a max occupancy of 10\. The lower level offers ample space for everyone to convene with a Pool Table and poker table and a TV area with a fireplace. In addition, there’s a covered screened-in porch with a six-person hot tub for use during your stay. The Retreat at Shagbark offers something for everyone to enjoy during their visit to the Galena Territory, historic Galena, and the greater Driftless region. With this home, you will have access to the Owner’s club (six access cards included), where there’s an indoor/outdoor pool along with a game room, business center, fitness center, and basketball court. Please note, that some amenities require advance reservations. The Collection loves dogs and wants you to be able to travel with your furry friends. This home is dog-friendly and allows up to 2-dogs with a non-refundable dog fee of $150\. Please, no more than two dogs during your stay. We only ask that you please pick up your pet and properly dispose of pet waste. While we also love our felines, we’re not able to accommodate cats at this time. Please note that Travel Insurance is HIGHLY recommended as we do not have a COVID or Weather Cancellation policy; may purchase after booking. \*\*All COVID-19 related restrictions have been lifted for the Owners Club including capacity limits and reservations for most amenities. At arrival, I realized there is quite the distance from the parking area above to the home below. Carrying belongings and groceries was a chore. Anyone unsteady would need assistance down the big steps. There is a tiny bit of yard in the front, but all a slight hill. The home was clean. Once settled in for a weekend of cooking for our family, I realized the frying pans were old and had no coating left. Bring pans, plastic wrap, foil and Ziplock bags if needed with you. The dishwasher wasnt attached to the cabinets, so once loaded, tipped forward. I did communicate that to the management person. Dishes weren't clean after using it, so I handwashed all weekend.The bedroom upstairs with a king bed and separate bthrm was large, but our 3 year old grandson had to be downstairs, as it has a railing around the landing, open to the 1st floor. Lots of bedrooms (1 upper, 1 main), basment also had 2 and each with a bthrm. Nice big living srea to sit with family. The home instructed to not sign out of their YouTube, but allowed us to, so we could order our own show. Nice porch to sit on, but down in the trees so far, not a bit of sun was to be had. ##### sara w. The house was the perfect size with a nice lay out. It felt private due to its location among the trees. Some minor details would have improved our stay (for example extra sets of towels and items for the kitchen such as tin foil and storage containers). We had a fantastic time playing games, shopping, hiking with goats (so fun!) and eating way too much delicious food. The house was cozy with a great fireplace and hot tub.
