Absolutely amazing! I wish I could stay more in this lovely hotel- it’s very close to the Hakata Station, and very close to a FamilyMart! The staff is very friendly and a few can speak English well! I love the adorable Sheep mascot and plushie! I would come to Hakata again, just for this hotel!

English Understanding is a Problem
I chose the Hotel Route-Inn because of its proximity to the main railway station and bus station since most shops, bars and restaurants tend to be situated around stations in Japanese cities. Although my room was ready at 12.00 noon I was told to come back at 3.00pm for check in. This is where Japanese efficiency meets inflexibility. It makes no sense to make people wait unnecessarily when their room is already ready. I wanted to go to a large supermarket while waiting to check in, but three times the girl at reception tried to send me to the convenience store at the railway station that did not sell what I wanted. Eventually I had to go to the information at the station to be directed to the bus station to take a No. 30 to Aeon Mall half an hour away. Here they had all that I wanted and more. The hotel room was quite small, but the space was manageable and it was clean although I do not understand the Japanese obsession with dark brown carpets and duvet covers. The mattress was comfortable, but the two small pillows were rock hard. They felt like they were filled with horsehair and bamboo. They gave me neck ache and so I had a sleepless night. Also, the air-conditioner was ineffective and so I was hot too. Not good! There were no Western dishes (fruit, cereal, etc) at breakfast. Only Japanese fare.

Regarding check-in time, the cleaning organisation is usually different in Japan than to Western chains, where rooms are cleaned one by one, and are available in cascad. Here a cleaner will clean several rooms simultaneously to make sure all our 253 rooms are available and inspected before our check-in time. It is possible to rush the cleaning of a particular room, but there is an additional fee. I apologize that this option was not offered to you. I also apologize for the communication problems you had with the staff. I checked personnally with the staff you interacted with to make sure that this kind of misunderstanding will not happen again. We regret you had problems with the air conditioning and the pillows, during your next stay please do not hesitate to contact the front desk with #9 from your room. The staff will do its best to check our rooms appliances/furnishings and fix any problems. We also thank you for your feedback regarding the breakfast, we are looking for improvement. Hotel is connected by a flyover - within 3 mins walk to Hakata Station subway and JR and Shankeisan. Shopping malls are round with lots of restaurants. Onsite onsen hotbath is good. Good buffet breakfast which is included in room rate.

Great location and value for money
Great location for the hotel. However, there is a parking restriction for cars over 1.8m. We parked at the open space parking lot next door but the charge for parking was much higher. Rooms are small and renovation is a bit old. Still overall cleanliness and condition is good.

I liked a big bath on the underground level very much. A very well-managed Japanese hot spring (note: this is a real hot spring from the Earth, not one run with heated water) beckons you after a day of labor.

Good choice for the price
Price ok, room ok, location is not superb but ok as you need to cross the bridge to get there from Hakata station, its just few minutes walk as long as the elevator is working.

Quality budget hotel.
Quality budget hotel just across road from from Hakata rail station. Clean, comfortable rooms, though we thought bed was a bit hard. Room was spacious, staff were very helpful. Good breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

Near the station.
I arrived at 10pm after a very long flight from the U.S. The staff were very nice and helped me with a couple of odd questions. Pretty much I slept and left, but found the hotel to be in a great location from the Hakata Eki. Very pleased with the hotel.

Worst hotel ever.
Worst hotel ever. Smells like cigarettes everywhere. We booked non-smoking room but could not stand the smell. Front desk was unfriendly not willing to listen to our complain we just checked out and booked another hotel and wasted the money. This hotel is old, stinky not recommended at all.

Overall a nice hotel
This hotel located near to the hakata station. There is a footbridge linked between the ground floor of the hotel and the second floor of the hakata station. It's really convenient during rainy days. Hotel provides free breakfast during our stay, which save us the time and money to find places to eat during our visit. Rooms are clean but small. This is expected on all semi-double size room in Japan. Hotel offers free hot spring on B1/F for free, which I haven't have time to try, but for my short visit, hot spring area are separated for males and females, and are not allowed to wear bathing suit. Overall, I enjoy my stay in this hotel.

The best thing about this hotel was the location. Right across the street from the train station which was awesome. Lots of shops, food, etc... Just like the rest of the hotels in Japan though, it is almost impossible to get an early check in or a late check out. Overall though, I will definitely stay here again.

Consider it connected to Hakata Station by a covered walkway. Only about 10 steps are not covered! Great location next to the station! Friendly staff. Clean, comfortable, small rooms but old decor. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when traveling through via rail.

Kind of dated decor, but room size was acceptable for a Japanese business hotel. Breakfast buffet actually had a good selection of fresh and tasty Japanese and western food. Location was right next to the Hakata station.

location was great, it was right there by the subway station and everything - shopping, eating, etc. I could also walk to may places from this hotel, the stay was great. Only thing is that check out is 10AM, so I paid little extra to stay till noon, other than that breatfast was good too, staffs were friendly.

Across the road from Hakata station
The hotel is just across the road from Hakata station (West Exit) so it is very convenient if you plan to travel in the area. The rooms are small, which is normal for Japan. The complimentary breakfast was nice and the is free coffee for hotel guests in the lobby.

Much better than the official pictures!
Usually the pictures listed in the site are much better than reality and this one is the opposite. It's a just next to the train station (across the bridge with lift and escalators). The hotel is actually kept in a very good shape and very thing is clean and alright. I got a room overlooking the Hakata train station and the main street but it is not noisy at all as it is not a busy city. There is also a convenience shop at the corner of the hotel.

Excellent Location, but Could be Improved
Great location nearby to Hakata station & AMU plaza is this hotel's saving grace. Small rooms but fit for purpose. Buffet breakfast is fine but show up at 08:30 and you'll be in a large queue. WiFi didn't work in my 5th floor room, just the lobby. Front of house staff billed my card twice but were quick to resolve. A decent option at the right price. I probably paid a litle more than i'd liked.
