The Space: Six Minute Drive to Main St. | Pet Friendly (with fee) | Wheelchair Accessible The rustic log cabin facade of Shady Lane Lodge is reminiscent of a classic Texas farmhouse, surrounded by mature shade trees and acres of picturesque countryside. Once inside, the entire home is finished with charming knotty pine paneling. A double-sided stone fireplace anchors the soaring vaulted ceilings in the living area in the center of the room. Sun-kissed skylights allow the natural light to flow in and highlight the leather sofas, plush armchairs, and large HDTV. On the other side of the fireplace is the farmhouse dining table with seating for six—a peninsula bar with seating for four leads into the bright and pristine kitchen. Natural wood cabinets continue the rustic vibe, while sparkling granite countertops and high-end appliances add chic and modern convenience. Brew a pot of coffee in the mornings, warm some blueberry muffins, and let your whole crew linger here while you discuss the day's upcoming adventures. The primary suite on the main floor is entirely accessible and features a sumptuous king-size bed, HDTV, and a leather armchair. The ensuite bathroom has a double marble vanity and a zero-edge step-in shower with handrails, a bench, and multiple showerheads. The second guest bedroom also includes a king-size bed and HDTV. It was perfect for our family of 10 adults, with plenty of space to spread out and relax. The five bedrooms were ideal—three of them even had two queen beds, which made it so comfortable for our group.The house was spotless and incredibly well equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the game room was a huge hit—complete with a pool table, dart board, convertible game/poker table, and outdoor games like corn hole and lawn Yahtzee.We also appreciated that our two well-trained dogs were warmly welcomed—it made the trip even better to have them with us. The location was perfect—just a short drive to downtown Fredericksburg, yet peaceful and private. It truly felt like the best of both worlds. When there was an issue with a tub the management company was prompt in answering and sending someone out to fix the issue. We liked being out in the country - playing cornhole, frisbee, cards, and board games, and the little ones loved watching the deer in the morning and evening, and yet we were close enough to Fredericksburg to explore the town, Luckenbach, hike Enchanted Rock, and visit some wineries and peach farms. We especially appreciated the suggestion from the homeowners to visit Eaker’s Barbecue - the food was amazing!! I would have given the listing five stars but the hot tub wasn’t working properly (younger family members were disappointed) and the bathroom was out in the garage apartment/bedroom which was inconvenient (repairs were in progress). It is also pet friendly, which is a major plus is our book because our pets are our family too. The property managers were very prompt if we had any questions and the inside of the house was in immaculate condition. We did have a minor issue with the garage AC for the game room, but that was the only “issue” with the property. We were not informed prior to arrival. This left us with no restroom upstairs for two bedrooms and only 2 toilets for 12 people. Additionally, the air was not working properly. Night one the temperature would not get below 75 downstairs, and it was even warmer upstairs. In Texas, this is a problem. The house manager did come the next afternoon to flip the breakers and work on the air. She got it working, but it was a huge hassle to coordinate this fix. Toilet was never fixed. The last annoyance was there was only a small used roll of toilet paper left in a restroom. No extra to be found. Had to ask house manager for toilet paper. No accommodations have been made to our bill, and we paid a premium for Memorial Day weekend. ##### Hannah W. We wanted to have a family getaway since we were conservative with social distancing around the holidays. This property has everything you need to stay indoors , the game room was where we bunkered down and had a blast with the kiddos and adults. Something for everyone. Pool,TV,games galore, and plenty seating outside to make a fire- weather didn’t cooperate but we did get to enjoy a little the first night. Still needs some kitchen items , bring a good couple knives and platters -I usually bring those anyway to any of the properties we stay at. So for us. Not a big deal.
