A rustic split-rail fence welcomes you to the home, and comfortable wood rocking chairs flank the front door. Sitting about 13 miles south of Fredericksburg in the wide-open countryside, Holt+ Gail Haus is the perfect home for those searching for authentic Texas adventure. Three bedrooms provide sleeping space for 10 people, so bring your whole crew. The Space: Once inside, the exposed limestone walls and wide plank floors add a distinct, memorable character to the entire home. The main living area includes plush, neutral sofas facing a custom entertainment center and a wet bar that’s ideal for serving cocktails and snacks. A worn leather saddle propped in the corner reminds you that you’re deep in the heart of horse country. In the spacious, eat-in kitchen, simple white cabinets sit underneath open wood shelving that artistically displays the glassware and flatware. The kitchen design is minimalist and chic, with a refrigerator, microwave, and an electric range. The farmhouse dining table has seating for six, and french doors open wide to reveal the sun-kissed outdoor patio. On the main floor, there are two luxurious primary bedroom suites. The first suite features a king-size bed, piled high with comfy pillows and fluffy blankets. This suite also includes two bedside tables with lamps and a modern ceiling fan. The spacious ensuite bathroom features a step-in shower and has room for a wood bench and a free-standing, full-length mirror. The second suite features a luxe Queen-size bed, reading lamps, a ceiling fan, and an attached bathroom with a shower and vanity. Upstairs is the third, lofted bedroom space with an intricate ceiling and tons of natural Texas sunlight. This unique, flexible space includes three queen-size beds tucked underneath the eaves, as well as lots of different seating options, including a custom-built window seat. There’s also a door that leads out to a small patio with a picnic table and sweeping views of the surrounding land. Back downstairs and outside through the french doors, a stone patio creates a lovely outdoor space to relax with a glass of wine underneath the sparkling stars. A wood pergola is strung with twinkle lights that illuminate the comfortable lounge seats. The entire area is anchored and warmed by the cozy stone fireplace— perfect for chilly Texas Hill Country nights and roasting s’ mores after dinner. The views from the balcony were breathtaking, especially at sunset. Amenities: The home was equipped with everything you could need and more. The kitchen had all necessary utensils making it easy to whip up meals. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the linens felt luxurious. Cleanliness: Spotless doesn't even begin to describe it. Close to Fredericksburg and Comfort but far enough in the country for privacy and a gorgeous view of the stars at night. Hot tub was great, beds comfortable, and lived up to our expectations. The only suggestions I would offer is to stock a few more wine glasses, bigger coffee cups, and some hot pads. We will definitely reserve this lovely cottage again in the future! ##### Jeff B. Could have been perfect stay however is started pretty bad. When we arrived we could not access the house due to inaccurate instructions from Cozi Vacation Rentals. Door did not open since the bottom luck was locked in addition to code box. While we were trying to access the house, a red wasp attacked my husband and he got a really bad sting. We then discovered a nest of wasps just above the entry. We left the property and asked Cozi office to take care of this issue and also provide access. Only at 10:30pm we got access to the house after a very kind maintenance guy arrived. He also helped us operate the TV and outdoor Jacuzzi. We lost half a day in calls to be able to access the property not to mention the Trauma the kids had from the wasps that were circling the entry. The next days we had to depart from side doors and run to the car to avoid the wasps. Not a good experience at all, my kids will now always have fear from anything that flies. Property was not ready for us at all. There were no instructions inside the house of how to operate TV or Jacuzzi, no one visited the property before to make sure there are no issues - such as a wasp nest. Management office kept promising us that the manager will call to answer our complaints but no one followed up after the stay. I feel sorry for the property owner. House is really beautiful but defiantly need to change property management. ##### Liat B.
