### Hillside Cabin | Terrific Front Porch
Views, wildlife, bird watching, quiet relaxation—if this is what you are looking for plus staying in an awesome, quiet cabin then this is the home for you. Hillside Cabin is located just a short distance from Honey Creek Cottage and less than 10 minutes from Fredericksburg. Honey Creek Cottage is found at the next entrance on the road and renting both will make a wonderful retreat for family and friends. Hillside Cabin is tucked in the trees enjoying the wonderful wildlife that surrounds it. This small cabin is elegant, cozy, warm and inviting. The front porch has a table and chairs plus comfy seating to enjoy the wonderful views of the countryside. In the back yard are other seating areas designed to enjoy the many birds, squirrels, deer and other wildlife that are so prevalent. Your hosts have created a wildlife refuge for guest making it a spectacular place to stay and enjoy.
Entering into the house savor the spaciousness of the open living room and kitchen. The living area has a large comfy sofa and overstuffed chair placed to enjoy the large satellite television. Fully equipped the kitchen is both practical and elegant. And perfect for those quiet dining moments during your stay. A queen bed is the focal point of the bedroom, with it's soft coral walls. The bed is elegantly dressed with tasteful beauty and offers fluffy pillows to accent. Adjacent bathroom has a large shower.
The paths around the house are created for nature enthusiasts. Hillside Cabin is being prepared as a Wildlife Refuge property, and your hosts have provided binoculars and a bird book (they have even marked the birds they have found on the property). Guests have told us how they enjoy walking or bicycling on the county road leading to Hillside Cabin.
\*Reservations for longer than 7 nights are available with prior approval from the homeowners. Please send us an inquiry if you are interested in this option.\*
Please Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC). Please be aware of your surroundings, and take caution while driving at night. You may also encounter the various bugs, spiders, scorpions and mice that live in the country AND sometimes do make their way inside. All properties do utilize pest control services on a regular basis BUT this does not guarantee no pests or bugs will be visible.

#### Quiet, quaint getaway cottage
The Hillside Cabin is perfectly located and the property has little nuances that are unique to it, like the cardinal who hangs out on or by the car and the little fairie garden behind the cabin. Even saw a deer wander by our first night!

#### Overall content with the stay
We went to get the key for our cabin in downtown Fredricksburg. At check in, we received a key and 3 breakfast coupons to use during our stay. When we got to our cabin, we realized that we received the wrong key and at the same time, the property manager called to inform us of the same. So, we had to drive back to get the correct key and were also asked to return our breakfast coupons for some reason which led to us wasting about an hour. We asked for late check out for the inconvenience and were granted an extra hour for check out. Other than this, the cabin was nice, clean, comfortable, and fairly private.

#### Good dark skies and manager response
My stay was very pleasant. I especially enjoyed the full kitchen and the efficient, quiet central air and heat. The router supplied strong enough internet to reach outdoors, but needed to be reset a few times. The milky way was clearly visible and I got a couple of nice astrophotographs. My car was damaged on the way up, and I asked if I could stay a little longer. The manager, Gasthous Schmidt, kindly allowed me to extend my stay for two days.

Great place to unwind and get away from the stresses of the city. Very quiet with nature all around. Beautiful view and wonderful breezes! We honestly hated to leave!! If you want some peace and just time to relax this is the place! We loved it!!

#### Anniversary getaway near Fredricksburg
We had a great long weekend stay at the Hilllside Cabin. THe property is close enough to town to be convenient but far enough away to get away from the lights and sounds of the city. A sweet Cardinal landed on our car as soon as we arrived, and he and his family visited all weekend. The surrounding area made for some great photography and the cabin had everything we needed. I haighly recommend this location if you are planning a trip to Fredricksburg.

#### Clean and comfortable, but small issues
We very much appreciated being allowed to check in an hour early, as we were staying at this rental due to a medical procedure planned at the hospital early next morning. However, the living room TV worked for about 15 minutes before it quite working. The coffee pot leaked water all over the kitchen cabinet. We noticed no window coverings on the windows in the living/kitchen areas online, so no surprise about that feature. But experiencing the open windows after dark in person gave us an uncomfortable feel. Overall the rental was super clean, private, and cozy. We got a good night's sleep on the nice mattress and enjoyed the roomy, sparkling clean bathroom. I definitely recommend this rental if you enjoy nature and cleanliness, but be sure to ask if the living room TV and coffee pot have been replaced or at least checked out. pfjw and jrw Feb 2023

#### Amazing cabin in country just minutes from Fredericksburg
The cabin was as pictured. What you don't see is the little "extra" things the owner provides to make you feel right at home. Perfect for our weekend away from the norm and we will be back!

#### Great getaway
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hillside Cabin. It was nice to have the peaceful of the countryside but still be close to town. We saw lots of wildlife during our stay, so keep your camera close. The kitchen had plenty of supplies. I wish we could have had full use of the chest of drawers and more than two hangers. But I'm sure that can be fixed easily and it wasn't a big enough deal to affect the over rating of this beautiful property.

#### Wonderful, cozy cabin!
Such a quiet, relaxing location. The cabin is the perfect size for a couple. Comfortable furniture with full kitchen is a huge plus! Close enough to town to make it convenient but far enough out of town to be quiet and secluded. We'll definitely use this cabin again in the future!

Property exceeded our expectations. Very clean, well maintained, and decorated nicely (always a plus for me but not necessarily an expectation). Property was convenient to town but far enough away for a great view of the stars at night and quiet times on the front porch. We will definitely be back!
