If traveling with a larger group, consider also renting The Cabin -- located about a 10-minute walk away. After fun-filled days, relax in the comfy living area and watch a new movie on the smart TV. The well-equipped kitchen has everything needed to create your favorite dishes. When it’s time to dine, the table seats four. The Cottage has a queen bed in the bedroom and a full-size futon in the living area. The bathroom is configured with a tub/shower combination. A twin bed can be found in the open loft area. The loft is accessed via a steep ladder, safety rails recently added. The wraparound deck has incredible vistas of the surrounding woods and peekaboo lake views. Nestled on Great Pond, your vacation home offers wonderful seclusion, but is still only an 8-minute drive from Franklin and a 20-minute drive from Ellsworth. For an incredible day trip, pay a visit to Acadia National Park or Bar Harbor. Things to Know Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles. Dock details: Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. This property is near some active ATV trails, and we had some unwelcome visitors our last night with 3 loud ATVs out on the dirt road in front of the cabin and trails until nearly midnight. Week cooked in the nice little kitchen and grilled outside once. On the one day it rained, we stayed in all day and streamed movies or watched ones from their small DVD collection. We spent most of our time in and around Bar Harbor, and although this house is about a 45 minute drive from that, it was an easy drive and felt like an amazing getaway from the city. You cannot beat the location on the picturesque Great Pond. It was a breath of fresh air to drink our coffee outside every morning with the view of the water before getting our day started. We felt perfectly safe as two young women staying here, as the house feels just secluded enough but not too much that makes you feel like you are completely isolated. It felt like a "glamping" experience to stay here in that it felt rustic while having all the amenities that you might miss while camping. The only thing I would say is beware that the ladder to the loft is very steep, and would probably not be the best fit for someone with mobility issues or a young child. I actually bought a large deodorizer to help control the smell. Maybe there is an issue with the wax seal, hairline crack in the toilet or a problem with the pipes. And because the place is small, the smell was noticeable in the living area as well. I called Vacasa about this and the only response was that the cleaners did not notice anything when they were there. If it weren't for this I would be giving a better review. ##### Ann D.
